I had to make a choice, either TV or youse guys
Edited on Thu May-18-06 09:06 PM by MrScorpio
Both my tv and modem are on the same cable. I have a splitter that I use to feed both. Now I got the tv signal NO PROBLEM, but for the last few days, I can't get the computer feed to work properly. So I just sacrificed the TV and now I'm feeding the cable directly to the modem with no splitter.

Everything is working fine, But no tv.

I hope you guys appreciate the sacrifice

3. I caught that
but he does say "modem" in the next sentence. So unless it was a Freudian slip, it was a typo! :hi:

2. If it works for you
That's great. I have computer and TV hooked up differently, but in the same room, and usually do both at the same time.

6. Talking of choice between TV or Internet...
... before we cancelled the cable service, the cable was hooked into a digital TV set top box (originally designed for DirecTV but can decode the HD-TV over the air signal - for watching PBS Kids which was not available on the regular analog cable package). The strange thing was whenever I turned the channel on the set top box to a over-the-air channel, the cable modem would 'switch off'. Whenever I turned back to a cable based channel the cable modem would come back to life. So my choice was to have the son try and play on the computer whilst I was trying to work... or to have him watch a bit of TV for a bit. Fortunately that problem was fixable - unplug the cable from the set top box, as PBS Kids was on the over-the-air and didn't need cable.

Mark.

7. got rid of TV service
couldn't afford both cable modem and TV service...went back to being no TV house...don't miss the tube...listen to streaming radio- have BBC on now. (house is location where there is no good radio reception, and all TV in area must come from cable/dish service)
