The list is limited unless you have a login id.

I believe it's a security measure to thwart a porno site that was linking to vids.

52. Here's the story...

I posted a complaint about her site in public because she continually disregarded criticism in threads and via PM. My post started a thread of people both agreeing and disagreeing with me. About 200 replies in, it was locked.

A lot of DU'ers thought my post was a "personal attack" -- which is a total pantload. A number of decent DU'ers came to my rescue as well, pointing out the obvious fact that it was not a personal attack, but rather criticism of the site and some of the usability problems.

Rather than listen to concerns of the users, she fled DU in a childish huff. After a few days, the problems that were voiced were corrected.

Incidentally, she also emailed links to some allegedly "fixed" videos to several DU'ers who defended me. The videos said something like "SUCKER!" in big bold type. These DU'ers had their IP's banned from CanOfun ostensibly for agreeing with the criticism.

Myself, I let it drop because I said my piece and the problem was, for the most part, fixed.

since you say you notice that she has been making changes.

Also, there is no evidence that what that was posted is true, or not an exaggeration, or even simply her responses to pms or emails that she received.

I don't know the entire story - I just know that she was a great asset to this site - and provided free video to those who might have missed great stories. And was criticized because someone didn't feel it was good enough. Give me a break.

Who knows, it's worth a try, as I know many DUers are very sad to see her gone, and most of us are in the dark wrspt. the initial hubbub that caused her to leave. My impression is that it was just a few individuals who complained about her work...she was everywhere on DU, and we got spoiled, waiting for her video links. I can't believe that anyone would say anything negative about her.

who were purposely trying to upset her into not making or posting any more vids? I've been involved in a personal crisis for the past month and haven't even been around DU for the most part, and had nothing to do with the reasons for her departure. After tonight I won't have time to do much more visiting until the end of this month, let alone have any time to actually add to the discussion, so I find it kind of frustrating to learn that all of this happened and it sounds like it's too late to do anything about it.

There are 2 video sites, Can o'Fun and Crooks & Liars, that have been doing a huge patriotic PUBLIC SERVICE to bring this country back to its senses. It's a shame that most of the time the only people who regularly visit these sites are already "converted", but at least we could send our still-not-awake friends the web addresses to these vids to let them see for themselves what is happening to our democracy and the people in it.

I'm so sorry about what happened, but I do hope she will return very soon, because she was really helping us in the battle to save our democracy. Her leaving has not only hurt DU, but in a way it hurts our country. The longer she is away the more we all suffer, and I mean those OUTSIDE DU and OUTSIDE her website. I hope she will realize this, forgive those who wronged her (even if they were "only expressing their opinion"), and get on with the business of fighting the fascist enemy.

To LIVEOAKTX:
Do you remember hearing that old cliche, "It's bigger than both of us"? Well, this battle to win back our country is bigger than DU, than the Democratic party and bigger than any individual politician or political website. But each positive one makes a real contribution to that huge cause that's "bigger than" ALL "of us"!

I REALLY APPRECIATE the hard and selfless work you did that nobody else can do; now I hope you will come back and do it once again for the widest audience possible because we have a lot at stake here!

can of fun thread assumes no responsibility in this matter. The decent and human thing to do would of been to PM liveoak and discuss his concerns with her privately, yet instead he chooses to diss her website on DU for all the see and participate in.

Make no mistake about it, this was a hit and run, and there were others who played their roles. I will post the thread so everyone can read. You will see the difference between constructive criticism and out right flaming. Again, this thread should of never been posted and the OP has to live with his part in liveoak's absence.

Another note: Why this post was allowed to stand so long is beyond me. I wrote many requests to moderators to have deleted and it was not... You will have to ask them their reasons, but my reason was that no DU'er ever should have to have anything of their scrutinized unless they bring it up themselves for such scrutinizing. That should be a rule if it is not one already....

I have to admit it was SO great to have the direct link to each video clip that she would provide seconds after the event occurred, I relied on them being available on DU, my kind of one-stop-shopping. I do go to her site and have NEVER had a problem accessing her clips. liveoak was more than just canofun, she also participated in different threads with great posts on her thoughts. We lost a good DUer, sadly.

The thread that caused her to leave was inappropriate, imo, and I was glad it was locked, albeit a little later than it should have been, again imo.
