Look who is in 1st place in the NL West!
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/standings

Go Padres! They cant hit for shit but pitching, baserunning and defense is how they win ballgames.
You wont see a 30 HR guy on this team, playing in Petco Park. I predict that Kahlil Green will lead the team in HRs with about 19. The big bats of Vinny Castilla and Mike Piazza will not be a factor. Its guys like Greene, Mike Cameron and Mark Bellhorn, along with great pitching that will keep the NL West flag in San Diego.

Go Pads!

4. I will when the Dodgers and Giants are in 4th & 5th place.
And the Pads, Rockies and D-Backs are fighting for the flag.

13. Are you kidding me?
More likely it will be Cars-Yanks or Mets-Yanks. If the Pads win the West they will be swept in the NLDS again.

19. Last I checked
the Cards have the Cy Young Winner and the Mets and Yankees have former Cy Young winners named Johnson and Martinez. Plus Mussinia and Glavine are kicking ass this year.

12. So it will be the 80-82 Pads that win it again?
Piazza will be a factor, Cameron will not.

14. They were 82-80. The BEST record in the NL West in 05.
The 1973 NY Mets made it to the WS with a similar record.

Aside from Nomar who do the Dodgers have this year?
LA and SF are the oldest teams in MLB.

Padres...Padres...Padres...!!!

17. The Dodgers still have JD Drew
If Bonds ever starts to hit even a fraction of what he used to the Giants will win.

22. Jeff kent is doing well
him and Nomar have both hit Hrs today. They also have Furcal and Tomeko, Penny and Beaz pitching.
Drew has 7 HRs and 25 RBI this year and is on pace for 34 and 120. he hit 31 hrs 2 years ago.

23. Aside from Nomar...
Edited on Sat May-13-06 05:43 PM by Oeditpus Rex
Lofton, Furcal, Kent, Drew, plus Penny, Tomko and Lowe in the rotation and Baez in the pen. (Gagne who?)

Edit: Forget what I said about Baez. He was smokin' through most of April, but he just blew his fifth save and let the Giants tie it in the ninth. And they're still batting. :grr:

Edit again: Vizquel hits a sac fly. Giants win 6-5 with four in the ninth off the closer. :grr: :grr: :grr:
