4. I disagree.
His quote is anti-religion, but not necessarily anti-theist. Many theists, especially those on DU, can be very much against religion yet still maintain their personal theistic beliefs.

(Not that I would mind in either case.)

5. Since when does the advocacy of banishing religions...
...become "anti-theist"? Why can't one be spiritual and not religious? I'm not trying to start an argument but would really like to know the answers to these questions.

6. If you're spiritual and not religious, you'd prolly be
unitarian!

OK, you've got a point; perhaps I read too quickly; one can certainly be a theist, and oppose (organised) religion.

7. It's anti-religion
and I agree with his statement, but there is a difference between being anti-religion and anti-theist

8. Much like many, I'm not sure it's anti-theist.
Of course, he could be, but this isn't a confirmation of anything but his being anti-religion.

It suggests to me that he's not very bright, however. Any belief which is bannished is immediately given power and will develop an underground following.

9. We're talking about a ring with supernatural powers
So I think he meant "I'd eliminate the desire to follow religion from people's minds."
