6. My picks
Doctor Zhivago: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Maurice Jarre)

Lawrence Of Arabia (Maurice Jarre)

Conan the Barbarian (Basil Poledouris)

Gladiator (Hans Zimmer)

The Mummy: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Jerry Goldsmith)

The 13th Warrior: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Jerry Goldsmith)

Basic Instinct: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (Jerry Goldsmith)

The Wind And The Lion (Jerry Goldsmith)

There are many more that I could add, I have a weakness for soundtracks. My favourite composer is Jerry Goldsmith.

8. When I think of soundtracks...
...I think of Bernard Herrmann, especially 'Mysterious Island'. And what would the shower scene in 'Psycho' be without that piercing score?

You have nice choices, though, and I have most of them on vinyl.

Also, the soundtrack for 'Alamo Bay' is absurdly underrated. Ditto for 'Barry Lyndon'.

9. Great choices - I'm partial to the 2nd one

Although I can't argue with Curtis Mayfield being top on this list.

Pusher Man
Little Child Runnin' Wild
Freddie's Dead
Give Me Your Love
Superfly

Those are some of my favorite songs.

10. Off the top of my head... some really good ones:
Easy Rider - any sound track that includes classics like "The Weight" and "Born to be Wild" is a winner.

The Graduate - one Simon and Garfunkel classic after another.

Bonnie and Clyde - it's not the quantity, but the quality. Fantastic bluegrass stuff, perfectly used to enhance the action.

Apocalypse Now - same comment as Bonnie and Clyde. The "Valkieries" piece with the choppers is one of the great combinations in film history, IMO.

Hair - some really fantastic songs and music... all original.

Goodfellas - people always talk about what a great flick this is, but how about some props for the soundtrack. For example, the first part of "Layla" in the scene where the kids discover the two dead bodies in the Caddy, by the East River.... perfect.

11. Jack Johnson..sing alongs and lullabyes from the film Curious George
Incredibly good and:

It still blows me away, how well they (Phoenix, Witherspoon and Shooter) did.

12. Is there a better song in the world.....
than "Trouble Man"? I love that song. And I'm still waiting for Curtis Mayfield to get the recognition he deserves.

Interesting list. Some of those I've never even heard of.

Gordon Parks talking about the Shaft soundtrack and working it out with the musicians in the studio while showing clips of the film. The promo dates from 1971, I guess. It was so jaw-droppingly fucking cool, you have try to find a copy of it if you don't have it already. I had never seen it before.
