Good Saturday Morning, Crew!

:donut::hi:
Welcome to the Saturday edition of the Early Morning Crew thread! :bounce::woohoo: The weekend is here! And this is a weekend that even I have off! I hope you had a good day yesterday. Mine was crazy...our register system was down and hardly anything worked. We couldn't check inventory, e-mail, sell gift cards, do lookups of any kind, and we had to call in for authorizations on all credit cards and checks! x( The crazy thing was...the problem was USA wide! At one point, our DM called and asked if anyone in the past week had come into our store saying they were a technician and worked on any of our register computers. No one had. So, we think a hacker went into a store somewhere and installed a virus that infiltrated into the corporate servers and shut them all down! I left at 6 last night and corporate had no idea when it would be fixed. x(

Greekspeak and I have decided to hold on buying a house right this minute. We need to get a few more of our "ducks in a row" to make sure we're not getting in over our heads. I think it's the right thing to do. I even checked with our apartment complex and they said they would write us a two or three month lease until we could get things worked out, so we don't HAVE to stay here another whole year! Thank you all for your help as I went through everything this first time...and we'll all get to go through it again very soon!

Ready to start your weekend? Me too! :bounce: SO let's go! :woohoo:

4. Hey Clint!
I'm glad I'm not the only East Coaster to get up at 6am on a Saturday. :P

That happened to us at TRU once. What a freaking nightmare! And it was a nationwide problem then, as well.

I'm sorry you have to hold off on buying a house, but if that is what is best for you guys then you made the right decision.

13. Good Morning, Miss Mutley!
:hi::hug:
I actually got up at 5...but got immediately busy with Tony and Bandit, and started the thread later than I usually do. It IS a freakin nightmare when your systems go haywire like that. It's crazy and I hope they get it fixed right away.

It IS the right decision, I'm sure. I didn't want us to get into a situation where we were in trouble in a few months and so we just need to wait to get the other stuff taken care of first.

I'm SO glad it's Saturday! :bounce:

108. The rollover was about the only thing I was sorry to give up.
They just constantly charged me for whatever crap they could find. They kept crossing my bill with someone elses and I'd be charged for 500 text messages or something. x(

I was going to suggest Verizon as I love them, but if you're on a contract with Cingular there isn't much you can do.

9. Morning, Clintmax
Regarding the buying of a property I've found that it's best to start out with a home which payment won't be much more than what you are paying for rent if you can find suitable quarters for that price.

I'm a loner and I bought a house 5 years ago and got in over my head. My payment was $900 and I was only brining home $500 a week. Bad move. My job situation has since improved. I now bring home $750 a week and I sold the other house and bought a house which payment is $630 a month. That's proven to be just right. I can have a house and still save. As luck would have it I found a better paying job that I will be starting in a week, but I'm going to stick with my little house in my little town.

We are taking mom out for breakfast and presents. That's my only plans for the weekend. I want to go fishing, but it has been raining here the past 3 days and I'm afraid that the water will not be suitable. All I have to do is walk 2 blocks and I can see the river for myself, but I have a feeling that it's going to be up and moving.

50. Catfish and crappie
I can catch catfish and other bottom dwellers in the river beside my house. There's some big'uns in there, too. For crappie I drive about a half hour to Caeser's Creek Lake. I haven't been crappie fishing in a while. It's not safe to eat the fish out of the river due to pollution, but if I catch a mess of crappie out of the lake they are going home with me to get cleaned up.

18. Good morning

I'm glad that you and greekspeak can take your time to think a bit more before making a big finical commitment.

That's really scary about your computer system at work. :grr:

42. Good morning MissHoney

I seem to be a little more tired than usual this week. I couldn't figure it out until I sat still long enough to actually look around at my environment.
:wow: I see more clear level spots. I guess I've been working too much. I'm not going to be home very much this summer. I don't want to walk into clutter on my visits back.

it is so much nicer to come home to a clean place. ANd you just do all the things now that you would normally do over a longer period of time. Good for you. And no wonder you are tired. You can relax a lot when you are gone

Now it's driving me a little nuts. I already turned off the anti-phishing feature but I need to tweak it some more.

I am up to the usual this morning ... cleaning my apt. But I am pretty much done and will soon head out to the gym. And tonight is party again. Or better: standing around, sipping on wine and make comments on guys.

Here are a couple of the pics from my weekend in Berlin (and around). I will post them on Monday I think. Still want to scan in some more.

Potsdam, Dutch Quarter

Potsdam, Sanssouci - Chinese Teahouse

Berlin, Schinkel museum in the Friedrichswerder church

Havelberg, one of the first cathedrals in Germany (finished 1170)

River Elbe (flooded)

I'm really glad you're doing this carefully. It'll be a lot better in the long run.

So I gather you won't be house-hunting today. What exciting projects await you? Are you having fires up there? We've been packing our little fingers off and we can't even go for a dip in the pool afterwards because the air is so bad. Last night we could even see a huge cloud of soot in the air before the sun set.

100. Well, it's going to rain today.
Maybe that'll put the rest of the fires out. I'm afraid I've made my mom work her fingers to the bone ... but she prefers that to sitting around being bored.

I'm still messing with my laptop, too. I spent about 2 hours on the phone with Dell yesterday. The guy told me to download a new bios, which I did. It's supposed to make the fan run more. But it took so long to run the test and then download it that it was already overheated by the time it rebooted. So I got a REALLY scary looking screen -- like you tore the edges off a piece of paper and taped it to the screen, with only black showing around the perimeter. Once I let it cool down, it worked OK, but I haven't tested it to see if the new bios keeps it cooler. Anyway, he said he'd call back in an hour ... that was 22 hours ago. Haven't heard from him.

I'm glad you don't have a long wait to take care of things. :bounce:

109. When I first got my laptop
I had to deal with them a LOT because it didn't work right ... right out of the box! The service was so bad that I asked exactly what award they won -- the booby prize? They did not find that amusing, but neither did they improve their service.

The good news is that I think I can probably keep my laptop going as long as I can keep it cool. I'm going to buy one of those laptop platform fans that sits underneath, just to give it a little more help. According to the diagnostics, there aren't any hardware problems. But I'm just going to leave it alone until my mom leaves.

Meanwhile, we'll try to get some more of the kitchen packed up today. My beautiful home is looking like a warehouse these days. My excitement is giving way to a bit of panic ... but we'll survive it.

BTW, where's billyskank? I haven't seen him for a few days.

I find it amazing that all our little trinkets and things are in boxes. It makes it all so weird. And I'm a little nervous about packing things so they don't break, even though I've done it over a dozen times before. Ah, it's just me being silly. :silly:

Glad to hear you won't have to rush into anything. From my experience, pressure often results in costly mistakes. I must admit that the 2 homes you showed us yesterday were a huge improvement over the very first one - the outside of that one looked like it needed lots of TLC.
