Can I brag for a bit?
I hate my job. I ended up in my profession out of sheer laziness/fear/convenience. However, like a lot of things I hate, I seem to be good at it.

Anyway, I'm a general manager for a large retail company. I took over my store 3 months ago when I moved to a new area be with my fiance. Once a month I get a "scorecard" that ranks us in a variety of categories compared to other stores in the chain. One of those categories is "most improved customer service", as measured by the responses to random customer surveys that are printed on receipts.

Well, out of nearly 1,300 stores, my store, for the first three months of the year, is ranked #1!!!!!!! in the entire company! I've never been #1 in anything before!! :woohoo:

But this doesn't have to be all about me. Feel free to brag about your big accomplishment this week.

2. Congratulations, dude!
You deserve the #1 slot...may it only continue to go onward and upward, for your benefit and for the benefit of your customers. *highfive*

As for my accomplishments this week, I've been fairly one-track in the focus of much of my activity and the result is that I raked in a good haul of semolians...but the things that matter most, even if at times less immediately tangible, have nothing to do with such material fortune. And I know you know what I mean. :D

Well done!

5. Thanks... I wish this score would translate into semolians
But, I got some recognition for my store and a nice pat on the back. That's enough, right?

Hey, did you watch American Idol Tuesday? Did it make you want to hurt people? :D :hi:

9. I like nice pats
on the back. :P

They're worth a lot, now and then, and the semolians will follow this trail of abundance and prosperity you're blazing, sure enough.

Nope, didn't see American Idol (haven't ever seen it, actually, at least more than a couple of minutes' worth) but perhaps that's just as well...heard about the Elvis focus, though, from the people I met in the course of my duties. I'm still recovering from some of the covers of Elvis songs charted by various whiny groups in the '80s...

11. It's funny you should mention that
Somebody recently informed Mr. 80's Pop Music Trivia God (me) that Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" is a remake of an Elvis song. I had no idea....

Now please excuse me while I go listen to that great Corey Hart song "Can't Help Falling in Love." :P

16. Ha!
Somebody is wrong and you were right in your lack-of-idea...it was a Queen original, albeit done as an homage to the Elvis sound just like John Lennon's "Starting Over." It's a great song.

If I were you, I'd rub that piece of knowledge in as thoroughly as you can. :D

Now, if only I knew who Corey Hart was, perhaps I could become appropriately upset...

Is he the kid from Stand By Me and Goonies? :P

8. I got no brag, but you're welcome to yours.
It's good to see that you have the old-fashioned values: You may not like your job, but it's your job anyway, so you're determined to do it well.

That kind of attitude is what has made this country such a great place to live.
