get started. Myself, I basically use firefox and keep a bunch of folders on a bookmark toobar across the top of my page which I save my links to. I imagine if you have 1000 bookmarks, you have a method. Do share.

If I were you NMP, I'd just name a bunch of folders to fit your links....like music, news, etc.... even name one "bookmarks to file". And then when you save a new bookmark, you use the "save to" option and save right to a spec. folder. So you are always organized. Soemtimes, you will be in a rush and the unfiled links will pile up and you do it all at once.

I keep my folders across the top of my page as i mentioned. Soetimes I save an important bookmark right to the toolbar -- not to a folder on the toolbar.

I'm sure many folks just click on the "bookmarks" heading and their list of bookmarks drops down.

And be sure and group your folders/bookmarksin in a way that makes sense for you. And folders can have sub folders and sub sub folders. It's real trial and error. In my music folder. I'll have a subfolder like "playlists, and in playlists, I'll have a sub sub folder of blues playlists. etc.

Anyway, NMP, i have to go but do give organizing bookmarks a try! And BW, do feel free to share some cool bookmarks!

try and save it to my scrapbook too. and I try and name it the same. It's amazing how many links I had saved were dead... and info I wanted was lost forever.

Every once in a while I export a copy of my bookmarks list to my email. I haven't quite figured out how to save a copy of my scrapbook urls to a folder.

There is a book I want to get called: Ambient Findability : What We Find Changes Who We Become: Books: Peter Morville. It sounds very interesting.

Anyway, scrapbook is a great firefox extension (an add-on little program that you can dl and customize your FF. It is a great, speedy way to capture any web page, photo or even a paragraph of text from a website and it will keep this new stuff in scrapbook folder. You can make folders and subfolders. I haven't even scratched the surface regarding knowing how to use it. Anyway, here is a link for it. Not sure if this is the best dl page for it but you can dl somewhere. Get latest version.

Also, I have this other extension i dl'd called All in one sidebar (6.4) that i find helpful. I think you can find all these extensions by googling firefox extensions.

has been recommended by a few folks. I didnt know there was an extension. Ihave a nice dictionary ext. that i use by just clicking any word on a web page twice and it will give me a definition. I dont have many other extensions.

Did you dl the firefox upgrade that just came out? I did but for some reason, ever since, my Ff has freezed up 3x but not too seriously. 2x it unfroze. Bummed me out. It was running so nice before that.

The dream program i am looking for and I know its out there...is a simple way to click record and organize audio streams and playlists. As it is... I am all over the place. I use a free program called audacity but I am not in love with it. My friends use protools but I feel its overkill for me.

19. I used the Import and export function on IE to reload favorites...
the last time I did a Factory Restore. If I were to attempt rearranging mine I think I'd do it elsewhere in windows, then import them back into a clean IE.

But, I have 1518 on http://del.icio.us

I find it to be so much better. And I don't have to worry about losing them.
