Help!!!!!!
Okay, I just got accepted into Nursing School (YAY!) and I had my orientation meeting today. I'm in sticker shock, $400 for books for one semester, but I have a major issue.

I have to find a stethoscope. I have no idea where to begin, I know nothing about the brands that are offered. Can anybody give me some recommendations (sp?) on a good mid-range stethoscope to purchase? Trying not to spend a lot of money, something less than $100 would be great.

Thanks for the help in advance!!!!

:hi:

3. A medical needs store would also have them.
It would give you a good idea of the quality of what you want/need to spend.
Whichever stethoscope you buy, I recommend that you take it to a jewelers
and get it engraved with your full name; they sometimes get 'borrowed' and never returned.

4. Doesn't the nursing school have a suggested one?
I bought one for my niece as a high school graduation present because she was going to start nursing school. The university had a suggested type of stethoscope, and I found a medical supply store in Chicago that carried them. These days, I am certain that you could find whatever you need online.

Congratulations and good luck!

7. Littmann stethoscopes are good, they have reasonably priced and higher
priced ones.

Most people I know use those.

8. Thanks
I've been surfing the net trying to find reviews of types of stethoscopes with no luck. I think one professor mentioned Littman as a good brand.

I've seen a lot of Sprague(?) brand stethoscopes...are those any good? They seem to like to put them in kits with scissors, pen light,etc.- all stuff I need anyway. I have thought about getting one of those. Good idea or bad one?

I'm really excited about starting, but I feel really overwhelmed right now. All the advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!

13. Thanks...

I'm pretty psyched about it. They will own me for the next 2 years, but it's worth it. I've waited a long time to get back into school.
