No good deed goes unpunished
Last year, I didn't have such a great year at work. I'm not sure exactly what my trouble was, but I dropped the ball pretty often.

This year, I have done a big turn around. I got through the spring term well, even with all three of my faculty teaching at the same time. I felt good, and I know that my bosses have been very happy w/ me.

I just found out that with one of the other assistants leaving, I'll be getting a 4th person to support. Besides the fact that there will be more work, there's a lot about this that bothers me. It seems as though HR consulted with the department head about how support was going to be spread around, but no one (including the department head) talked to my faculty at all (to see if they felt there was room in my day to support a 4th person) and certainly no one spoke with me.

Not to mention, this change takes place tomorrow. This new person is teaching 2 sections of our course, and the final exam is on Monday--which was supposed to be the first day I'm to be up in Maine taking care of my injured sister.

Why is it that no one talks to anyone else around here? Why would anything think that this lack of communication is the efficient way to do anything?

And lastly (and not quite as important but an issue nonetheless), why am I going to be supporting 4 when there are others only supporting 2?
