Did anyone watch NCIS last night?
Don't ask why I watch a series that is produced by a puke, but I love the ancillary characters, especially "Ducky" and "Abby."

However, Gibbs was caught in an explosion, and he's been rushed to emergency, and his "boss" (Lauren Holly) wants to see him, but the nurse in charge won't let her in, even though she's the Director of a Federal Bureau and that she left a dinner at the white house to get there. Jen and the nurse get into an argument, and then Jen pulls out her cell phone and starts to dial a number, and the nurse flippantly says, "Who you calling? The white house?" And Jen says, "No, that would be overkill." So the call gets answered, and Jen says, "Hello, Condi?" At which point, the nurse straightens right up, talks with Condi, and then allows Jen in.

Then Abby comes in--if you're not familiar with the character, she's a Goth with a capital G, and she's all flustered, and half-empties her bag out with some very odd items, and she's ranting and obviously in some distress, and she looks at the (same) nurse with a pleading look, and the nurse buzzes her in without any further ado.

I just thought that was funny for both the Condi reference and for her sympathizing with Abby.

1. I love Abby.
And I dug it that the nurse gave the director shit but took care of Abby right away.

But my fave scene was the slap fight. After Zima made the ugly comment about guts, I yelled at the TV "slap her, Abby!" And she did!

That was the first one I've watched all the way through. Mrs. V. loves that show.

3. I was half expecting
the two girls to kiss and make-up while McGee was watching them, trying to figure women out. But they cut it too soon. Oh well.

I love CSI, but it doesn't have the humor that NCIS has. I resisted watching NCIS for a very long time because I have don't care for the exec. producer on the show (Having worked briefly for him, and knowing his reputation), but I eventually got reeled in. There was a line in an episode last season that dealt with Ducky being threatened from a trial he was on quite a few years back, and they were all at his house when this giant oil drum arrived, and Abby asked Gibbs what Ducky looked like years ago, and he answered, "Illya Kuryakin." I actually said it about 3 seconds earlier than the character, though, and laughed hysterically when Gibbs said exactly that!

8. I used to think being able to anticipate the next line in a show meant it
was predictable. But now I just know I'm brilliant.

And in the case of Illya Kuryakin, definitely not predictable - since not everyone knows who that is. :dunce:

I like Bellisario's shows - especially "Quantum Leap." Hang politics.

2. I don't watch it, but...
I did see Mark Harmon on my way home from work yesterday!

He smiled and waved. I tried not to die or make an ass of myself. It was all good. ;)

5. I've heard he's a very nice guy--and smart
as well. Did you know he was married to Pam Dawber?

4. I thought you weren't supposed to use a cell phone in a hospital
But I suppose that's one of the reasons I don't watch much tv - I expect it to approximate reality.

6. I've heard that too
Bu tI know people, including myself, who have gotten away with using them in hospitals, anyhow.

7. As a nurse who worked in a hospital
The technology has gotten better. Ever since cell phones went digital they don't interfere with the signals as much. It was the old analog cells that was the problem. My old one I knew I was getting a call seconds before it rang because my TV, Radio would start to have massive interference. So some hospitals now allow limited use, still not in the ICU's but outside they would.

9. That's kinda what I thought too
about the newer phones. I guess, though, they have to make it a general rule, though, cause they don't know who has a newer phone or an older one.

Speaking of which, my cell STILL argues with my computer. Sometimes when it's nearby and it rings while I'm online, I get a "ticking" sort of noise from the computer. It only goes away when I turn it off or hang up.
