Dog rescued from Katrina found shot to death
COLUMBUS, Ohio - A beagle plucked from a Louisiana rooftop after Hurricane Katrina has been shot dead in central Ohio.

Police say Beauregard and another beagle were found dead in a field south of Columbus last month. They’d been shot with a nine millimeter handgun.

Now a Kingston man is facing animal cruelty charges after police say he admitted he shot the two dogs.

1. How the hell could anyone shoot a BEAGLE?
I can't imagine looking into the face of a Beagle and wanting to do anything but give it a hug. Bastard! :grr:

4. Makes me ill. And WTF is a guy walking around with a 9mm?
And I have never seen a nasty beagle. The misteatment of animals gets under my skin... from incidents like this one, right down to just dragging your stubborn dog by a choke collar when he wont walk in the heat (this i see a lot).

6. Poor little Snoopy.
Beagles are the cutest with their floppy ears. Some DUer has a cute little photo of one in their posts but can't think of who it is just now.

10. Cute. and Thanks.
When I was 3 my grandmother had the cutest little beagle named Peanut. I saw a photo of me back then with me and the little pup jumping up to play with me. Evertime I say I think I'd like one I get this reaction: They're smelly, they're bad dogs, tear up everything, etc. But still, floppy eared dogs are for me. My fav are those bird dogs.

A really old and very good movie made in 1940 was "The Biscit Eater"
which I saw a few years back when AMC was actually playing the good movies that TCM does now. I have never cried so much over a dog movie before, it was very good. Disney remade it in 1972 but was just a dopey goody two shoes movie and not at all like the original. When it was realeased in the theatre's grown men would come out in tears. However, it didn't do so well because Pearl Harbor has just happened and that was that.

Synopsis
The Biscuit Eater is what is known in Hollywood as a "sleeper"--a small, unpretentious film that catches on with the audience and turns into an unexpected hit. Child actor Billy Lee plays the son of southern bird dog trainer Richard Lane. Lee adopts a dog named Promise, who turns out to be a "biscuit eater"--a dog that refuses to hunt for anything but its own food. Ordered by his father to get the dog off his property, Lee and his African-American friend Cordell Hickman secretly train Promise, hoping to enter the pooch in the annual field trials. Just when Promise is on the verge of winning, Lee discovers that he's in direct competition with his own father--who, if he loses the trials, will lose his farm.

Lee demoralizes Promise by calling him a no-good biscuit eater, thereby assuring that Lane's dog will win. Realizing the sacrifice his son has made, Lane apologizes to the boy; Lee in turn tearfully begs forgiveness from Promise, just before the dog dies from an accidental gunshot. This 1940 version of James Street's The Biscuit Eater is a genuinely moving experience; when remade by the Disney Studios in 1972, it became just another boy-and-his-dog yarn. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

12. Uh oh...a book you say? As a total bookworm I'll have to find it.
I remember watching that movie on Thanksgiving morning in 1994 and I was pregnant and had just drank a glass of fresh squeezed ruby red grapefruit juice (the best!). My little inside baby didn't like it though, and morning sickness prevailed...yuck. I only add this because I remember the day so well with that movie on and me running to the bathroom and upset that I'm missing a few scenes in the show. That was the best dog movie I've ever seen. I was sad for days afterwards.

13. This sick fucker needs some jail time.
Anybody who "feels threatened" by small dogs growling from behind a fence is just looking for an excuse to shoot something.

It may be somebody's kid next time.

What an asshole.
