Body Language question
what is it supposed to mean when someone pulls down on their lower eyelid. Is it something like "you and I are in on the secret?"

3. Damn... what was that movie
I seem to remember a scene in a movie where a guy leans in close to someone, pull down their lower eyelid and says "look into my eye". It is early for me (and i'm a bit hung over) so I can't remember the movie or the context but I do remember it was funny. I'll post again if I remember more.

11. Yep, Aliens
The sergeant said to one of his wisecracking troops. Subtle move though...he's pulling his eyelid down with his middle finger.

5. 'Christ, these bloody contacts are irritating. I wish I had some saline.'
Or maybe 'Dammit, my glass eye just won't stay in place today.'

I really have no idea.

10. My first thought too.
But then I'm used to playing with my eye-lids when contacts are getting irritating.

8. It reminds me of this joke I heard in Junior high about 35 years ago:
Edited on Wed May-10-06 09:10 AM by Richardo
A guy walked into the gorilla house in the Washington D.C. Zoo. When he was in front of the gorilla's cage he bent down to tie his shoe. He noticed through the corner of his eye that the gorilla had also bent down. Then when he stood back up he saw that the gorilla also stood back up. To see if it was a coincidence, he bent down to tie his other shoe and once again the gorilla bent down. He stood up and the gorilla stood up. After glancing over his shoulder to make sure that nobody else was around, the man jumped up in the air. The gorilla jumped up. The man started making faces at the gorilla and the gorilla would copy everything he did. Finally the man got next to the cage and pulled his right eyelid down.

At this point the gorilla reached through the cage pulled the guy in, threw the guy around the cage, and generally beat the shit out of him, then threw him back out of the cage. After hearing all the commotion, the zookeeper came running over to the man.

The trainer asked "What the hell happened here?" The guy told the trainer what had happened.
The trainer replied "No wonder. Pulling your right eyelid down means 'Fuck You' in gorilla".

The man decided to get the gorilla back. When the guy was out of the hospital he went and bought a long package of salami and a knife. Before he went into the ape house he stuck the salami down his pants. He then approached the gorilla. The man touched his head.the gorilla did the same. The man touched his stomach and the gorilla did the same. The man took the salami out halfway of his pants and cut half of it of with the knife and slide the knife to the gorilla.

The gorilla pulled the lower lid of his right eye down.

12. I think in some countries it means...
"I've got my eye on you," as in "You can't fool me." Not really prevalent in the US though, except maybe in some ethnic neighborhoods.

14. It's the Japanese way of saying "NYAH!" Am Series! this is HUGH!!!1!
Not a very nice gesture!

http://dotchan.com/misc/body.html
Pulling the lower eyelid down with the pinky and sticking out the tongue--The ankabe, the Japanese equivalent of a raspberry, translates loosely to "NYAH!"

In Brazil it means:

In Brazil , pulling down the lower eyelid with an index finger signifies disbelief or caution
