The person in my avatar is the incredible Jimmy Smith. He was a jazz organist. He played the Hammond B3, and was so dominant on his instrument that he put other organists into a tailspin in rather the same way that Charlie Parker did to other saxophonists. :)

I've got a big soft spot for the Hammond organ. Or rather I've got a great big soft spot for just about all forms of organ. I spend loads of my time listening to modern French (classical) organ works - and nobody could claim to be a fan of Olivier Messiaen without loving the onde martinot which as an early form of synthesiser has a somewhat similar sound. It has been said that the role of classical organist is a close to jazz-music as is reached within the classical world, it's the only instrument where improvisation is considered an essential part of the core "repertoire".

I do my best to be outrageous - and when given such very excellent material upon which to work (such as your beauty) I cannot help but succeed. :D
