I think it's good if you can, but it's not necessary. I'm not sure if I'll consider law a "passion" -- constitutional issues, sure. But I'll find a niche in which I'm happy.

Being passionate about what you do is the ideal but I don't think most people can attain that. Most of us have to compromise as to what we do because of practical concerns. I enjoy what I do and I get passionate about everything but it's not what I'd choose to do, given a choice.

When I see the joy of all my cousins when I show them the first picture they've ever seen of their GGgrandmother or grandfather, or I can introduce them to some 2nd cousins who have lived nearby for years that they've never known before, it makes everything worthwhile! Several cousins in Alberta are starting to meet for coffee now!

And several little 80 year old ladies always wondered what happened to their cousins from their dad's side when he was killed back in 1936. I found them recently and shared all this information with them. They were SO thankful.

I REALLY like the detective work. I wanted to be Nancy Drew when I was young! We have an old article from a Wisconsin newspaper from years ago that outlined everything for me. But I adore this lady who wrote it, though she's been dead for almost 50 years. She had no idea how she planted the seed for the future generations to learn everything there is to know about the family!
