I used to like Rum
but now I can never drink it without thinking of this:

http://tinyurl.com/n43ft

BUDAPEST (Reuters) - Hungarian builders who drank their way to the bottom of a huge barrel of rum while renovating a house got a nasty surprise when a pickled corpse tumbled out of the empty barrel, a police magazine website reported.

According to online magazine www.zsaru.hu, workers in Szeged in the south of Hungary tried to move the barrel after they had drained it, only to find it was surprisingly heavy and were shocked when the body of a naked man fell out.

The website said that the body of the man had been shipped back from Jamaica 20 years ago by his wife in the barrel of rum in order to avoid the cost and paperwork of an official return.
According to the website, workers said the rum in the 300-liter barrel had a "special taste" so they even decanted a few bottles of the liquor to take home.
The wife has since died and the man was buried in a proper grave.

8. yeah, I have a few of those gross memories like finding a dead
fly in school cafeteria pudding. It was at the bottom of the dish.

Seeing dead moths in the bottom of cherry syrup at a small town soda shop, after I drank a cherry coke. No telling how long they have been there. I was a boy scout walking the Lincoln Trail in central Ky.

9. What about Purnell's Old Folks Sausage?

Actually Purnell is the genuine article. He's just as you see him on TV. He's good to work for. I know one of his regional salesmen and he has nothing but good words for Purnell.

10. The more I think about this, the more I think it's bullshit
How would they be able to find out why a body was in a cask so quickly? if they were able to find out so quickly, why was it even sold in the first place?

16. That's the origin of the term 'rotgut'
Years ago, medical schools would use corpses preserved in cheap alcohol for use in demonstrations. Depending upon the condition of the cadaver, the alcohol sometimes had little pieces of rotting intestines or body parts floating in it...

17. Guess WHAT?? The story is TEN YEARS OLD!! Reuters screwed up!
BUDAPEST (Reuters) - The Budapest story headlined "Hungary workers get shock at bottom of rum barrel" issued on May 4 is withdrawn. Police said the incident, reported on a police magazine Web site, happened 10 years ago. Reuters has been unable to make any further checks to substantiate the story.
