I've got a big grin on my face
Found an old friend on MySpace, sent her a message and just heard back — she seemed thrilled to hear from me. (It's been about 10 years.)

What makes it really special — she was born a male. I haven't seen her since... well, the "change." I'm really looking forward to it.

2. In the immortal words from Mrs. Doubtfire:
She's a he, he's a she'she, she's a...blubber blubber blubber!

Sorry, OR, couldn't resist. Frankly, it's cool that your friend did what he/she thought he/she needed to do. Hope she's happy!!

:loveya: :loveya:

P.S. Hope you know I'm funnin' you about your friend. I really don't have a problem with transsexuals. I feel bad for the ones who remain trapped in the wrong gender.

3. I hope so too
When she was a he, it was pretty obvious he was unhappy. If I'd known then about Aspies, that would've been my guess.

I just hope she doesn't think it selfish that I want to learn from her — to open my mind some more.

4. I don't believe she'll think that.
When I was in college, and Prez of my Psych Honor Society, I put together a presentation about transsexuals. I had 5 people in various states of change, from "Marsha" who had completed the change from Michael to Marsha, to a young woman just starting the change from she to he. It was absolutely fascinating, and the participatins really appreciated the opportunity to talk about their feelings prior to the change, and what changing meant for them. Just be open to her, OR, and I think you and she will both be the better for it.

5. I'll be better for it, anyway
Best thing I can be to her is one more person who's accepting. I hope that's important to her.

I'm kind of afraid that while I'm adjusting, I'll say the wrong thing or be patronizing or something.

and that you're afraid of saying the wrong thing or being patronizing? If it were me, I'd appreciate your honesty. Heck, I _do_ appreciate your honesty.

I'm fine; a little tired. We're cat-sitting my mother-in-law's three cats while she's in Menorca until mid-May. One of her cats (Ginger's uncle) is psychotic, and he peed on a crate of my art supplies yesterday. :grr: Naturally, it was a wicker crate and very porous. :eyes:

28. My life is changing so much right now.

It was a little scary there for a while but it'll all work out. :) I've got so many wonderful things opening up before me.

How is your new workspace, your studio? How much are you loving it?

I'm so glad for both of you. She will appreciate someone around that she can trust and be open with.

Is this the person you wanted me to find back in March? I'm sorry that I didn't get back to you before I took off for NC.

25. What information do you need?
I managed to dig up a little — her married name, her husband's name, her two kids' names. No clue as to location, though.

26. With all that information I'm sure I can find her for you.

I'm not awake enough to start digging this morning but I will help you.

I promise. I don't usually make promises and I seldom break them. It'll be fun looking. With my new laptop everything will be faster when I'm out there on the road tooling around.
