1. Jean "Bellevue"...?????
Do you mean Jean Beliveau?

(Doesn't matter anyway -- I'm voting for Wonderous Bobby Orr.)

3. Gordie Howe
Edited on Tue Dec-09-03 01:29 AM by 5thGenDemocrat
You might want to check that ol' list of yours, HEy.
John
Darryl Sittler's brother, Gary, played here in Saginaw for years, BTW. And the guy who signed Bobby Orr for the Bruins, Wren Blair, was the team president of the Gears (the team Gary played for). He's still around (Wren, I mean) and doing well.

5. Terry Sawchuk

He kept the injury to himself and two years later doctors discovered the arm had been badly broken and subsequently healed poorly; it was two inches shorter than his left arm.

Now that's badass.

8. Didnt he die as a result of injuries sustained in a bar fight with
another former NHL star? I beleive that he did but I cant remember the name of the other guy.

10. I don't think it was a bar fight
The fight took place at Sawchuk's house, or someone else's, if I recall correctly. The other guy was Ron Stewart, and I think both of them were more than a little drunk.

33. Yep that's him...that's who I was gonna vote for, even if Krispy Kreme's
are better!
The town where I was in Ontario had a population of 30,000 or so and there were 8 Tim Horton's there!

12. Gordie-he still hangs out at Red Wings' games.
He had such a long career.

I also am somewhat partial to Bobby Orr, because he lived across the street from my great-uncle in Parry Sound and because he dated my aunt Jo once.

15. Cam Neely
What can you say for a man whose own name is shorthand for a style of hockey?

"So-and-so from Boston University will go early in the draft. He's a big forward in the Cam Neely mold..."

or

"He's not the biggest man on the ice but in the attacking zone he plays a Cam Neely style of hockey..."

He's a guy the opposition always had to keep one eye on because if they didn't, sooner or later he'd catch them off guard and run them over like an 18 wheeler. And while they're watching him out of the corner of their eye the center is getting more room to maneuver. That Neely & Oates pairing was a sight to behold. One of these days they'll have to let Neely into the Hall of Fame...one day!

17. Gotta go with Bobby "Bobby" Hull
Used to love to watch him skate end to end and wind up with that monster slap-shot. Saw him hit Ed Giacamone (sp) in the chest with a slap-shot and knock him back into the net and, in turn, knocked the net of the pipes, in those day, quite a feat, since the goals were not "break-away." Used to also love the Hull/Ferguson fights. I remember once when Hull had a broken jaw from a previous fight and had the protective face-guard on, and still he squared off. Tip of the at to Maurice "Rocket" Richard. He broke my heart as a kid back in '70 when he beat the Hawks at home in the 7th game of the Stanley Cup. This was the last, best chance the Hawks had to win that thing. Fargin' bastage. Original Six Baby!
