Bev Harris on KNRC Radio re:BBV/need help burning to CD
Edited on Mon Dec-08-03 09:38 PM by travisleit01
i searched for any posts about Bev Harris talking about BBV on Denver's AM 1150 KNRC with host Enid Goldstein this afternon but didn't find anything. It was very informative and nice to put a voice to a name. If you missed it, you can download it off their audio archives page here: http://www.knrcradio.com/audio_archive_shows.asp

It's in .WMA format. My question: Is there a way to download this and burn it to a disk? It would be great to pass out to people to educate them! (I have a Mac BTW)

2. Wonk is our, well, wonk on audio issues
He does amazing stuff with both audio and video. I'm sure he could offer advice if you PM him. Sorry I can't help; I'm such a technopeasant that I couldn't even tell you what a WMA file is. (Google indicates that there are many programs to convert WMAs to MP3s, and you can certainly burn the latter to cd.)

3. When you downloaded the file did you just
save it as a file. I went to the site and did not see anyway to download the program and save it as any type of file.

I am currently listening to Enid's program where she talks to this guy about anti depressants not really working as they are advertised. She is then going to discuss the String Cheese Incident (a jam band) and their problems with ticketb*stard.

4. YEY!
Figured it out...

I d/l a program for Mac's called "WireTap" and it records whatever is coming out of your speakers. So now I am playing the .WMA file from KNRC's website (since I couldn't figure out how to save it). I have Wiretap recording this, and then it saves it as a .AIFF file. Then I can open iTunes and it will convert it to MP3. Then I can burn it to a CD. Not the easiest way - but it's totally free to me. If anyone wants me to email them the MP3/upload it to my website, PM me and I'll get it to you. Then you can burn it to a CD and listen to it/give it to friends for the Holidays. It's about 40 min. long.

5. If you burn it as an aiff you can then play it in a regular CD player too.
It has to be on the first session burned to the CD for the player to recognize it (Jam is what I use for this). You can then burn an mp3 (and whatever else you want to fill up the rest of the space) in a subsequent session.

6. Thanks Wonk!
All done - I have it as an AIFF and MP3, if anyone wants it. It's a pretty big file though (38MB), is there anyway to compress it? Probably not since it's about 40 min. long...

7. Oh, I forgot to mention, the aiff has to be 44 kHz stereo
before you burn it to work properly in a regular CD player, which will make the file even larger than it is now.

8. Also in MP3 format!

You can get Enid's shows in MP3 format at http://www.WhiteRoseSociety.org/

Depending on the type of CD player you have, these might be playable directly.

I archive all of her shows, and keep them online for three weeks.
