A picture of: jane_pippin (dial-up warning)
I know this isn't the one I said I was going to do next. I ask you to please forgive me.

jane_pippin is very handsome. Of that there is no doubt. But this picture was by far the hardest to draw yet, and I put more effort into this than any so far. It kinda turned into a "t-shirt study." I can understand why art schools train budding artists to draw nudes - they're just easier. (matcom, no need to give your view here). ;) Clothes are very difficult to draw. I could have cheated and just fudged the t-shirt, but I wasn't satisfied with that.

1. Really?
I found the nudes much harder more difficult, the lines have to be just right with the human form, and skin tones are extremely subtle.

Nice job

4. It's the folds that get me
I found even a simple garment like a t-shirt is incredibly complicated when I tried to break it down into lines and shades. I find skin is much simpler. :hi:

This took me longer than any other. I started it on Thursday evening, and in all I reckon I have put maybe 16 hours into it. I think the previous record was around five hours.

10. YAYS for billy the great.
If it weren't for the fact that I've finished my gin and so only have water to hand, I'd raise a toast in your honour. So you'll have to do with a cyber one instead

13. I'm sure that's bad luck or something similar.
Normally I only ever toast over alcohol - I know I should go and open a bottle of champagne, but then I'd drink it all, and would probably even have a hang-over tomorrow (not good). But if you insist, I'll toast you over water. :toast:

21. You're right billy, nudes are easier.

Having said that, WOW you did a fantastic job with the draping and folding of the cloth! You've really captured the the weight, mass and texture aspects. Looks very natural. Now that's a real talent, son. As for me, I kinda cheat a little and make the folds and such more "representational" and pass it off as my "style." :7

Bravo!

30. Nudes aren't really easier, billy.
The reason artists in classical training are taught nudes first is so they'll understand how light falls across the human form and, for example, the architecture of the human form which supports the flesh and the clothing. You've done a beautiful job here, especially, with the T-shirt.
