Quick question for DUers in England. (Question about Magna Charta)
What language was the original Magna Carta written in? As far as I can tell it looks like Latin, but I need to make sure.

While there is volumes of information about the Magna Charta on Google and Wikipedia, no one says what language it was in.

Thanks in advance.

On this site you will find one of the British Library’s two copies of Magna Carta, issued by King John’s chancery in 1215. The original is held at the British Library in London.

Read our English translation of Magna Carta. The original is in Latin. What does it really say about the principles of liberty?

5. Well, um, aren't the words "Magna Carta" Latin?
And, "It was written in Latin as was customary for legal documents back then."

6. Yes, but I had to be 100% positive.
I'm writing an article on it, and I didn't want to state a fact that couldn't be verified.

I can't get away with faking info since Brainshrub.com is not a conservative blog.

9. Magna Carta joke

Tourist at Runnymeade: "what's so special about this place?" "It's where King John signed the Magna Carta." "When was that?" "1215" "Damn, we've missed it by an hour..."
