Where I live (photos)
Edited on Sat Apr-29-06 04:32 PM by Oeditpus Rex
...sorta.

My BIL and I went across Kollyforniya yesterday to ferry a truck to his sister-in-law, and I made a few photos along the way since it was a gorgeous spring day and the hills were really green after all the rain.

The first two are looking east from the base of Pacheco Pass in the Diablo Range, which separates this part of Kollyforniya from the San Joaquin Valley. This is about 20 miles from my house.

My BIL and I decided we both wanna be 30 years younger so we can climb this crag.

This is from the opposite direction, on our way back in the Sierra Nevada foothills about 50 miles west of Yosemite. Didn't come out as well as I wanted, but that's auto-exposure for ya.

Edited to note "photos" in subject line.

9. Judging by your skin tone
I'd say hot pink.

Depends on what you'd be wearing, too, though.

It's actually a simple climb. As long as all your limbs are in working order, you can do it.

I know that Pacheco Pass.....I've been across it a number of times!

Beautiful country, isn't it?

I would have liked to see your house, too.....*sigh*

Thanks for letting us in this much, though!

14. You're quite welcome, Ms. Peggy
I've been across the pass dozens of times. When I was little, it was but a two-lane road. :scared:

It's not usually that green, though. Some good came out of all that stoopid rain after all.

Oh... San Luis Reservoir was the deepest blue I've ever seen it, too. Dunno if there's a connection to the rain.

It must be you and your truck, and the gasoline prices are the limit or something like that. :P

Addendum: 1 gallon of gasoline here costs now $ 5.20

20. The AC in my truck works perfectly.

I haven't looked closely at the route to Sacramento but I don't think it'll take me that way.

I think I'll need a guided tour to properly enjoy San Francisco.
I might get lost if you take me out of my truck. It has a built-in compass. :)

had a compass... sort of. It was a readout that said W, SW, S, etc.

My BIL kept looking at it, but I was like, "If you know where you're going and you know where you've been, whadya need a compass for?"

The Creek o' Nuts. I had a childhood full of sunshine, swimming pools, and horses. In the 70s there were still many orchards. By the end of the 80s ... not so much. My family still lives there. :hi:

Edited 'cuz I originally forgot to put in the "waving in solidarity with Walnut Creekites" smilie!

Here are two more, just for good measure: :hi: :hi:

30. Yeah, I remember
driving up that way in the early '60s. Folks had friends in Concord.

Highway 24 was two lanes then. And there was no 680.

Loved the Caldecott Tunnel, though.

32. Hi, I live now in the shadow of Mt. Diablo
and 680 was already well on its way to being a parking lot when I moved here.:D
Dysfunction Junction (680/24) was under construction and there was a crazy temporary flyover. It's much better now.
I can see the devil mountain from my yard, although it's obscured by about three layers of trees in the neighbors' yards.

So keep an eye out for dumbasses who stick the nose of their cars into traffic.

Or something like that.
