I saw part of it for the first time this evening and I like letting both sides have their say. I think it puts the spotlight on the conservatives and reveals them for the average-nonrich human-hating beings that they are. Of course, being a Texas Democrat, I am on a high right now.

1. Buchanan & Press?

I've watched it a few times... and I think it's alright. I don't watch a lot of cable news 'cuz it's almost all "soul-crushing" (to borrow from Jon Stewart) garbage, but the couple of times I've seen B&P, I thought it wasn't quite as crappy as most cable news.

And heck, I've got a lot more respect for Buchanan than I do for Bush. At least Buchanan is honest.

2. That is the right name.
Only saw it for a few minutes. I don't usually watch TV at that time of day but I was looking for news about the lovely Texas Dems. I know I am out of the loop but who is the other guy with Pat?

3. It's usually Bill Press
Formerly a bigwig in the California Democratic Party. But today, Ron Reagan was substituting.

5. I thought that was Ron but wasn't 100% sure since I had not seen him
in so long. I really enjoyed the question as to why the "conservatives" always get their panties in a twist whenever anything involves homosexuals. Too good.

4. The other day, I enjoyed hearing Buchanan quoting Clinton!
It was that 'move on' quote, but it was still funny to hear a conservative compelled to quote the man most hated by that side.

Wesley Clark was also on that show; it was the first time I ever saw him, and I liked him.

7. I like to see balance even though I disagree with 99.99% of what the
right wing says. It is great to actually HEAR both sides without a shouting fest, or with no balance at all, which would be all fox programs.

10. Yup.
They seem to keep the hollering to a minimum. Which is why I also liked the Alan Keys show. It usualy was kept pretty sedate.

If television won't give us progressive or liberal voices, I might as well stomach the true republicans, rather than the fruitcakes.

12. As much as I hate what they say, I believe respect for those with
sane, differing opinions is needed and that they, as should liberals, should be heard.

6. I watch it every day
It's better when Bill Press is on too. Scares me when I agree with Pat Buchanan, but he eventually says something stupid.

8. Example:
<Buchanan> "The Iraq war was sold to the American people on the basis of out and out lies. And it's expensive. We could've used that money to build my proposed security wall along the Rio Grande." </Buchanan>

11. Okay, we know how many well-healed terrorists come in the US from
Mexico. Only poor people looking to make changes in their economic conditions are the ones I see.

9. I remember back in the 94, listening to a radio program with him and a
"liberal" discussing issues. I mentioned the program to a repuke friend after Clinton was elected and she said the Buchanan was the reason that they lost the election. WHAT?

13. Buchannan has his issues to be sure...
He'd be a true, jingoist, right-wing WASP if he weren't a devout Catholic. That said, he's one of the few conservative talking heads these days who doesn't grate on my nerves. I think that's because his arguments are usually fairly intelligent and well-reasoned, as opposed to the blatant lies and ad hominem drivel we've come to expect from the likes of Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter. Buchannan more closely resembles the classic conservatives of old, respectable in that they were actually willing to intelligently debate the real issues, rather than bury them beneath a toxic tidal wave of lies and false accusations against their opponents the way today's Neo-conservatives do.

14. At the risk of being an outcast...
I have to admit that I've gained a small amount (A SMALL amount) of respect for Pat Buchanon since I started watching that show. My views are still at odds with his, but at least he doesn't seem like the typical Bush-Apologist that's all too common on many of the other shows. He's a retard, but I believe that he's an honest retard. I still wouldn't vote for him to be dog-catcher, though.

16. Buchanan is fairly WYSIWYG compared to other pols and pundits
Remember when he said after the 2000 election that he didn't believe all those people in Palm Beach County would've voted for him? He was against the invasion of Iraq and last week on The McLaughlin Group, when asked if the 16-words story had any legs, he said the Resident's critics will "keep pulling at that thread till the whole sweater fails off."
Yeah, I have some respect for Buchanan.

20. haha
It almost hurts to admit it, doesn't it? I know that's the case with me. Pat is a major tool, but I think he says what's on his (limited facsimile of a ) mind. I don't have to agree (and I don't), but I'll give the guy begrudging props for not being a shill.

Honestly, I don't mind if someone has a different view than mine, as long as I think they're being somewhat honest about it.

stated on TV these days is a major achievement in my estimate.
