Margarine would be less ideal, but acceptable.

4. Nah, I'd have to be up-league from her.
Since I'm in Northern MN, I'd probably more appropriately have a likeness formed from thousands of taconite pellets.

7. Princess Kay of the Milky Way!
When I was a little girl, one of my favorite parts of going to the Fair was getting a saltine cracker with a big slab of butter on it at the dairy building. Back in those days, they made real hand-dipped malts too (unlike the machine-made ones they have now).

8. The dairy building is where the best deep-fried cheese curd...
stand is located (actually outside the dairy building). Yummmmm. One of the few things I still like about the Fair since Machinery Hill disappeared.

10. Are you kidding?
Deep fried cheese curds are a Fair staple.

Really...you MUST go to the Minnesota State Fair.

14. The Fair is at the end of August through Labor Day.
This year it'll start on the 24th.

Deep fried cheese curds are a treat - but even so, I can only eat two. They're very rich and salty.

Make that road trip. We can share an order!

25. I plan to...
but of course, Minnesota is an annual pilgrimage for me. :)

On a serious note, I really hope gas prices don't force us to cancel the trip. It's 1200 miles one way. If we're there a couple of weeks, we can plan to put about 3000 miles on the car. (Last year, I was there for a month, and all told from start to finish, put nearly 4000 miles on the car.)

I was planning to fly in at the end of July for my cousin's wedding, then take the road trip with my husband and kids in August. I guess it will probably come down to NOT going in July and using the money I would have spent on a plane ticket to buy road-trip gas instead.

It's still cheaper than flying four people out there, especially because we'd have to rent a car.

34. Yeah, I may be outplanning my finances
I'd like to go out to Philly in June, we have a shower early July, wedding early August, I'd like to make it out to MN sometime after the wedding, and do Boston in October.

And buy a bigger house.

Maybe I can sell one of the kids on ebay? ;)

29. Is there enough to split it three ways?

I was tenatively planning a summer road trip up there to see BodyWorlds, but now I may make it a weekend to take in the fair, too.

Minneapolis gets very busy Labor Day Weekend. I move my daughter into the dorm at the U and couldn't find a motel room to save my life. I slept on the dorm room floor.
