Welcome to the Tuesday edition of the Early Morning Crew thread! :bounce: I hope you had a good day yesterday, especially since it was a Monday and who likes Monday's anyway? :rofl: I had a busy day and in addition, our freight was delivered last night instead of this morning so I had to unload 18 pallets last night before we left. x( It nearly killed me.

I got my iPod yesterday morning and have been playing with it ever since! :bounce: Now, I just need to figure out how to put a movie on it. I have Brokeback Mountain on DVD and I want it on my iPod, but I can't figure out how to put it there. Anyone who owns one know how? Any help would be appreciated!

I'm falling asleep here - not because of lack of caffeine, lack of sleep, or anything like that - but one of my office-mates decided it was too cold and turned her heater on all morning, so it's now ridiculously over-heated (this is a frequent occurence), I'm about to respond by opening the window (which is right next to my desk) even wider.

Unloading stuff sounds nasty, hope that you've recovered.

I'm on Semele by G.F. Handel here - all jolly and gorgeous, which a beautiful counter-tenor voice in there too. :swoon:

I know how you feel about the heat being turned on too damned high! Sometimes the women at my store turn the air conditioner off because they get too cold. We guys walk out on the floor and it's smothering out there! Then, on goes the air again! It's a constant battle. When their voices break at puberty they retrain them to be able to sing at alto pitch (which is naturally a female voice), by using falsetto. Rather than produce a sound using the whole of their vocal chords they only sing on the very edges - if one pretends to have a woman's voice, that's what they're doing effectively.

The problem is that it wasn't widely used until very recently - it's mostly used for roles which were written for castrati ( :scared: ), and because it's not a natural voice it jars with some people that a man can sing that high.

It's also very true that even a moderate counter-tenor can sound quite painful at times - they really do have to be excellent.

As far as your iPod, I don't think you can transfer a DVD to it.

You'd have to purchase the movie off of iTunes, though I don't know if they have that service yet. The videos on iTunes are specially formatted for the video iPod.

I was a busy little beaver last week. I took off three days from my weekday job to do some work around the house (yes, took off work to work). Did lots of Spring Cleaning, yard work and the like. 30. I got the bathroom done

I also got the thatching and core aerating done on the lawn, plus I got rid of some furniture I no longer want and several bags of junk. However there is still much work to be done. The main closet needs to be overhauled :scared: and other stuff needs to be done. I swear, you never realize how much junk you have until you go to do a major cleaning job or move.

I watched my son play baseball yesterday (Okay only 3/4 of the game because the windchill was in the upper 30s). He played well. The Eurovision is a competition that was born in the aftermath of WW2. It is held once a year, and nations in Europe (and a couple of others - for some reason Israel gets to enter as well) all enter a song each into the competition. The entries are all played on the night, one after the other, and then every country with an entry gets to vote on all of the various songs (except their own). They get to allot 12 points to the song/country they liked best, 10 points to the next, then 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1. At the end the entrant with the most points is the winner, and that country gets to host the competition next year.

Of course, the voting has little to do with the quality of the songs (which are generally very trashy) and everything to do with petty national rivalries. It's a huge bundle of fun!

we have to move to the rental house first. The new house won't be started until September and it'll take about 6 months to build. But we'll just be down the road from it, so we'll be able to keep an eye on it. AND we'll be out of FL for hurricane season!
