Poll question: Coll Football:Are the AP/Coaches' polls more relevant than computer polls?
Food for thought: Oklahoma is ranked #1 in 5 of 7 BCS computer polls.

What makes the AP and Coaches' poll so special?

1. I'd say you can take any of 'em with a grain of salt.
I wouldn't put any one of them above the others.

2. The AP and Coaches' polls. . .
are formulated by humans, while the BCS is computer-driven and often GIGO.

3. I voted No.
The AP and Coaches poll make it easier to lose early.

Each of the teams losses:
USC: lost to UNRANKED California 34-31 (and played in one fewer game)
LSU: lost to BCS #15 Florida 19-7
Oklahoma: lost to BCS #10 Kansas State 35-7

Why should Oklahoma be left out of the title game?

4. Both are irrelevant
I said this in an earlier thread...The BCS is the ncaa equivalent of the electoral college. Both need to be disposed of. As for the human polls, I just can't understand why a champion should be decided by someone's opinion. Could you imagine the NFL/NHL/NBA/MLB using something like this??

6. A champion isn't decided by someone's opinion
well atleast not in Division 1-A College Football.

5. The poll voters take everything into account
Strength of schedule, when the game was played, margin of victory, injuries, etc.

A computer, in contrast, would not differentiate if a team defeated Oklahoma with White out of the lineup, or Pittsburgh minus Larry Fitzgerald.

Oklahoma is again BCS blessed primarily because the margin of victory or defeat was eliminated as a BCS criteria, to discourage teams from running up the score. Therefore, OU's 28 point crapout in a title game is considered equivalent to a 1 point loss in September. Somehow, humans in the AP and coaches' poll knew otherwise.
