Iraq is doing well. First German restaurant opens
Edited on Fri Apr-21-06 05:55 PM by Kellanved
Osnabrück- The "Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung" reports that after four months of preparation, the "Deutscher Hof Arbil" has opened in the northern Iraqi town of Arbil. The 42-year old Bundeswehr veteran Gunter Völker wants to offer traditional German festivals like Oktoberfest, Carnival and Christmas in his newly opened franchise.

The menu includes schnitzel, sauerkraut and German beer on tap. Additionally there will be german music. The restaurant will also include a small hotel.

Völker has, according to the report, experience with operating restaurants in crisis regions. The former supply officer was deployed in Bosnia, Kosovo and Macedonia for six years. Since 2003 he also operates the "Deutscher Hof Kabul" in the Afghan capital.

4. But why?
Surely the average islamist fighter wants to have a good pork schnitzel and cool beer after a hard day of work.

6. You're right...
They should not have a problem, so long as it's Hebrew National Kosher franks and Messiah Bold or He'Brew Shmaltz Kosher beer.

8. Perhaps we should just turn Iraq into a giant EPCOT Center
"EPCOT: Mesopotamia. See the World in the Cradle of Civilization!"
