Snow report from Boston.
Just got off the phone with my daughter in Melrose, a near north 'burb.
Looks like about 2' so far with drifts to 4'. No plows on the streets yet. Boston mayor claims it will be business as usual downtown tomorrow. Yeah, right.

Her hub did some shoveling yesterday evening. Can't tell it now. They can't get the front or back doors open, so in case of fire (God forbid) they'll have to bail out a window. Got gas heat & cooking, hit the grocery yesterday, rented a ton of movies, so they're all set.

Grandson Jack (17 months) says snow is "yucky". Bet he'll change his mind in a year or two. Saw plows clearing funeral home parking lot across the street and said "choo-choo". Close enough Jack.

If you're in or around Beantown, what's the buzz from there?

1. I figure out a great way to make snow shoveling easier
Live in the south.

:bounce:

I've been watching sports all weekend so the only thing I have seen about it was the highlights of the Colgate win over Northern Iowa (I think) Jeebus that was a lot of snow.

5. Sheesh, yous guys got our snow!
Dry, sunny, 60's in Denver... Farmer's Almanac says it is gonna be a dry winter (but the slopes have snow, so that's good).

You can send some back west, though. I rather like it.....

7. 10 miles west
2 feet or so. Plows have dumped snow banks 6 feet wide and 5 feet high behind the cars in the parking lot. I already spent 2 hours shoveling out my elderly neighbor's cars, now I gotta do our two. Oh, my aching back! I gotta do it ASAP since hte snow's gotten heavier as it warms up a bit.

8. Over a foot in Somerville
15", maybe 18"-- but that's really a guesstimate. There aren't enough open areas in this, the most densely populated municipality in Massachusetts, to see an undisturbed accumulation.

For me it's been all about maintaining comfortable places for the quadrupeds to void themselves, especially Andy the little geriatric dog. He *hated* it yesterday, with all the windblown snow caking on his fur, and the snowbanks that wouldn't support even his minuscule weight. He's having a better time of it today, in no small part because the plows have been through a couple times already-- much easier on him than just following the tire tracks.

It'll sorta be worth it if they call tomorrow a snow day at my day job. Then I'll get out and build a snowman or an igloo or something.
