Did Elton John write his own songs?
enlighten me, please. :)

Love his music, by the way, but if he didn't write his own songs, what is he? A true artist or just a flamboyent kind of guy with a flair for the dramatic? ;) :D

2. Bernie Taupin
On his best days, Elton works with lyricist Bernie Taupin.

Bernie writes the lyrics and Elton writes the music. That's why there was a tribute album to them several years ago called "Two Rooms." They litterally sit in separate rooms while they are writing.

3. Taupin: words, John: melodies and arrangements.
And he could have found a MUCH better songwriting partner than Taupin, IMO.

5. Sure. Or Peter Brown (Jack Bruce's lyricist).
Or Donald Rumsfeld. Or Tommy Tune. Or Peter Saarsgard. Or Harvey the Imaginmmary Rabbit. Or Diamanda Galas. Or Rutherford B. Hayes.

ANYBODY but Taupin.
