Do You Know Any Adults Who Talk To Themselves?
I do. This person talks OUT LOUD to himself (mostly when he's alone, but sometimes it slips out in public) and carries on two-sided conversations with himself.

I don't think he has any sort of multiple personality disorder. There doesn't seem to be an alternate separate distinct personality that comes to the surface and takes over his normal personality. --- I'm pretty sure that all of us (on some level) have "conversations" with ourselves... but his are just spoken out loud.

It reminds me of hearing a child talk to himself... every random thought that pops into his head is spoken out loud. It's an ongoing never ending commentary about his life and the things he sees, hears, smells, touches, remembers, plans, does, eats, reads, ponders, works on... no matter what, he's always talking.

Have you ever heard one of those movies that has a special audio track for the blind... that narrates and describes the action that's happening on screen (in between dialog)... well that's what it's like when I happen to catch this person talking to himself.

It's interesting... but it can be annoying... and disconcerting at the same time.

20. uh-oh I do that too
Sometimes they are my only replies  unless I deviate from the Liberal Conventional Wisdom in which case sometimes three or four people will reply with something like "you make me sick" or "I cannot believe you said that."
I have sent emails to myself sometimes, just to make sure my email account is still working when my inbox has been empty all day.

7. I talk to myself and I know why I do it
Because I remember things better if I say them out loud. I don't talk loudly but I do tend to have an ongoing dialog with myself at work because it keeps me organized.

Of course, I don't give a rat's ass if people think I'm a psychopath. Clinically speaking, I probably am.

19. Sorry, I'm like your friend
I call myself " Buddy boy, old pal old friend" then start arguing. With myself. Out loud.

It can be disconcerting, annoying, even scary. So I try to do it in private.

But smart people tend to do it. There aren't many people we can really talk to. And we want to get our ideas straight first. So we argue with ourselves...

Khash.

26. I was going to add that.
That this is one of the myriad of odd habits that are associated with genius. There are, however, the people on the street who argue with themselves too...but the line between genius and madness has always been a little thin and blurry. ;)

22. Some people have no inner monologue
and they voice everything out loud. Thank goodness that they are few and far between.

I do talk to myself, but it's usually in the manner of making comments to myself or thinking out loud. Unless I'm really preoccupied, I don't do it in front of other people.

28. ROFL!! --- OMG! -- WTF??
<< Why do you have such an adversion to older folks?
Posted by Texasgal >>

What are you talking about? Who said anything about anyone being old, Texasgal?

Please... point to "old" in my OP. If you'll take the time to look closely, you'll see that what I said was "adults", in order to differentiate between adults and children.

Can you please explain how you come up with older (or elderly) from that?? :eyes:

<< You are consistantly posting threads about old people. :wtf: >>

I am? Really? --- Wow! "What the fuck", indeed! You seem so sure of yourself.

Please define "consistantly" for me, Texasgal. I think that word might mean something different to you than it does for most folks. Can you give any examples of this *consistent* behavior of mine that you speak of?

Are you thinking about that one thread where I was talking about and ragging on that witch/hag/bigot Brigitte Bardot? Perhaps? --- Actually, I was only ridiculing the hateful Bardot... not "old people".

One thing that I want to know is: Are you "consistently" jumping to unfounded conclusions about people? And if so, why?

An even more important question would be: Do you often make wild-eyed accusations about people (ie: my having an 'adversion' to old people) when you have absolutely no supportive evidence?
