Does anyone else ever have a day
where they feel like they're just going through the motions and ask "What's the point?"

4. Sure do.
Hate those days. Fortunately, they are few and far between, but when they come, they're real downers.

5. Almost everyday
but some days are better than others.

It's winter, it always makes people dreary. Summer will cheer things up.

I hope!

6. Fairly often
but here's a song that makes me look at that situation in a different light.

*** Verse 1:
We made it down to New York
with everything intact
but as for getting back -
it was Boo who made the joke,
they don't give you any hope
but they'll leave you plenty of rope

*** Verse 2:
And Dan came in from Jersey
he went to get the drums
and if Buddy ever comes
we can get it off the ground
I hope someone's coming down
'else I can't see hanging around

*** Chorus:
Oh, experience is cheap
if that's the company you keep
and a chance is all that I need
and I've had it
I've had it

*** Verse 3:
So we all just started playing
and then something strange occured
not a person stirred
oh, it started out one way
but it turned out to be okay
and I felt that somebody should say

*** Chorus:
Oh, experience is cheap
if that's the company you keep
and before you know that it's free
you've had it
you've had it

*** Bridge:
Like most amazing things
It's easy to miss and easy to mistake
For when things are really great
It just means everything's in its place

*** Verse 4:
When everything was over
and we loaded up the van
I turned and said to Dan,
"Dan, I guess this is our prime
like they tell us all the time
were you expecting some other kind?"

*** Chorus:
Oh, experience is cheap
if that's the company you keep
and I'll never get that disease
'cause I've had it
I've had it
I guess I've had it

19. Never Surrender
Edited on Tue Apr-11-06 08:02 PM by Xipe Totec
Do not surrender even when defeated,
and do not be a slave even in bondage,
trembling with fear advance bravely,
and attack with fury, though badly wounded.

Be as stubborn as a rusting nail,
that refuses to yield though old and ruined,
and do not envy the peacock's plumage,
that drops in fear at the first noise.

Be as a god that never cries,
or as a devil that never prays,
or as the oak whose mighty canopy,
needs of water but does not beg it.

Even when it rolls to the dust,
let your head scowl and bite,
and scream for vengeance.

- Pedro Palacios Almafuerte
Argentinian poet 1854-1917

Believe it or not, this is my mother's favorite poem.
She is my guiding light.
God bless her and keep her.

20. A day? Try a LIFE?
I'm 35. I usually vomit in terror when I pause to consider that I may well have ANOTHER 35 years left to go.

I've been an adult for 15 years so basically it's like being on the fifteenth mile of a seventy mile run. Only I've already tripped and fallen a bunch of times, I hurt my ankle, vomited, my side hurts, I'm wearing the wrong kind of shoes, I've got a charlie horse, a nose bleed and I'm sucking wind cuz it's all been UPHILL since mile number two and to top it all off I was never in shape for such a long god-damned run to start with!

I'd stop running but my wife and kids are right behind me in a golf cart carrying cattle prods and Gator Aid...

21. I think we all do. I've found DU a great help on those days.
In fact, late last year and early this one I had several months like that. I was ill and my mom died--a really tough time.

I even stopped posting for a long while, but I lurked a bit here.

I always cheered up a bit when I came to DU. the Lounge wackiness came to be a great help at times!

Take care--we've got your back.

22. Today was one of those days ...
On top of that I had a cold and I just was not into anything today . I felt like laying on my worktable and going to sleep while I was at work . I ended up clocking out 2 hours after clocking in and I went back home and crawled back in the bed .
