Was it ever explained how Harry's name got in the Goblet of Fire?
I just started watching the movie, and though I've read the book a couple times, and the later books, I don't remember an explanation ever being given other than hypothesizing.

1. Yes, ..
it was Crouch who put Harry's name in the goblet. Crouch was an imposter posing as Prof Moody.

4. Easy
Pieces of meat, each one shaped like every letter in his name, were placed on a skewer and grilled over the goblet.

5. You, sir, are a jackaninny.
Wheezing away from too much smoking of cheap, Turkish made class B cigarettes.

Hey - I found my Jazz From Hell Vinyl album yesterday, and have played through it twice! I don't have it on CD, so I haven't heard it in more than a decade. I didn't like it much when it came out, so I was curious how I would like it now, after 12-15 years experience under my belt, a greater appreciation of jazz, and of course, so much more exposure to other of Zappa's music. It has some wonderful stuff on it!!

I had never realized that G-Spot Tornado premiered on this album. I thought it was new for Yellow Shark.

6. I have that on vinyl too!
Bought it brand new in '86. Seems like yesterday! Never got around to getting it on CD... but I always liked it when in the mood to stretch the musical neurons. I wore out 'Night School' on my college radio show, and 'St. Etienne' is one of those tasty guitar morsels worthy of the 'Guitar' CD.

I remember being excited that 'Yellow Shark' had 'G-Spot Tornado' on it. I wondered if they could pull it off. I was not disappointed.

Zappa said in his autobiography that he would test his friends' intelligence by playing Varese and watching for their reaction. That struck me as funny, because I would do the same with 'Jazz From Hell' or in more whimsical moments, 'Lumpy Gravy'.

The ultimate Zappa test of endurance and appreciation to me is still 'Civilization Phaze III'. I still don't believe I have exhausted the depths of that one, 12 years or so afterwards. Enjoy it with your next Turkish tobacco bath!

7. LOL! You know, I used to play Varese and other modern composers
as a test of my friend's intelligence, too, and then I read Zappa's book and got to that part and I was all like, "Hey, that's me!" and stuff, you know?

Night School is great!

I've been seriously tempted to ask my local low-power station if I could do a weekly Zappa show. It's the only radio station that I've ever heard Zappa on - today they played Rat Tomago, and I heard "The Girl in the Magnesium Dress" and a few other pieces in the few months it's been running.

I remember calling into a mainstream classic rock station once and asking for some Zappa, and the DJ told me "We don't have Frank on the playlist". I'm sure it's because they were worried about getting their license pulled. That was during Reagan's time, around the PMRC bullshit.

8. Do you remember Dr. Demento?
Back in the 70's and 80's... Although he played many of the obvious Zappa choices, I could hear 'Cocaine Decisions' or some other semi-obscurities on there. But mainstream radio - when they dared play him outside of the novelty format - only touched 'Don't Eat The Yellow Snow' or 'Valley Girl'.

'Night School' trivia: That was the theme song for the late night TV show he conceived, but never got made. Mentions it in the Bible, I mean, his autobiography. Nice sampling of a trumpet and piano to get that quasi-keyboard sound!

And I've always been very sad that Night School never made it to TV. Really, really sad that it didn't.

The world would be a far better place with a couple year's worth of Night School.
