My mother's mother's name was George. Not Georgia or Georgina or any other kind of feminization of the name.

George.

George Frank.

George Frank Edith.

At least they got that girls name in there somewhere...

6. Some poor girl
in my family was called "Auntie Doot". She wasn't that much older than my grandma and NOBODY can remember what her real name was...or if Doot actually was her name.

...of course, her name isn't nearly as unfortunate as the fact that she was having an affair with her stepdad when she was about 16 and everyone knew it. Oh yes, happy family histories!

9. My grandfather's first name was Camillo
And he went by the nickname Comic (which was pronounced as "kuh-MICK"). In my mom's side of the family, there was a tradition in the old world for men to have the name Camillo -> Nick -> Anthony -> Camillo etc go down each generation. My cousin Anthony didn't like this, and didn't want to name his sons Camillo... Instead he chose Dominic and Remo.... Which aren't remotely as Italian :eyes:
