7. It's been growing exponentially already.
And the worst thing is that my social/economic safety net is diminishing further and further. i.e. I'm going to have to buy my own health insurance in Sept. of 2007, because I won't qualify on my parent's plan anymore.

Life is gonna start sucking MORE.:(

4. I'm 36 next month and still wondering the same shit.
I think it's probably best to forget about it and just get on with whatever you're into doing.

6. Blue_Tires, you're 30?
Okay, it's like this.

I had a teacher in high school that used to tell me he was 42, and still didn't know what he wanted to be when he grew up. I'm in my mid-40's and just now figuring some of it out. This may not apply to you.

The "decent woman" part? I can only give you the female perspective. I liked guys that hung out in bookstores. Sometimes, they liked to read. I liked guys who were intelligent, funny, and not afraid to sometimes laugh at themselves, and thought that they'd like a woman who was intelligent and had a good sense of humor. I liked guys who could be just as happy listening to the game and having a beer or two in their backyard than a guy who insisted he needed to go to a five-star restaurant before he was having fun. I liked guys who listened intently to what I had to say. You might say I fell in love with my husband's ears before I fell in love with the rest of him.

I'm just one woman. I know there's someone out there for you.

Julie

You'll find a woman there, because she must love baseball.

13. dude, i feel your pain
the first question - right there with ya. nooo clue on this end either.

the second - ah man, that kind of negative attitude gets you nowhere. draw up a list of *exactly* what qualities/characteristics you'd like your mate to have AND not have. that should keep you from going crazy trying to find the amorphous perfect woman, and something you can work with. me two cents.

g'luck :)

22. yes, that's a good point
i keep telling myself that the 'perfect' woman doesn't really exist, and if she did, she would almost certainly be interested in someone other than myself!

1. I turned 29 a couple months ago and asked the same damn thing.

2. The best way to find something is to stop looking.

16. I am right there with you, buddy. I'll be thirty in May of '09 and I...
DON'T WANNA!

Well, okay, I do. And I can't WAIT to be 35. I just don't want to quite yet.

As for what to do with your life--there's an excellent book about that out there now by Po Bronson called, "What To Do With Your Life." Good stuff.

I'd relax about not having found the right woman yet. At least you're not in a committed relationship with someone who is totally wrong for you, with a mortgage, 2.5-5.5 kids, and a mess o' scary in-laws. They always say you find the right person when you're not looking. So...stop looking?
