Canucks: What's the cheapest way to fly to Montreal from New York?

I'm trying to figure out the best airline to fly there. I'm going to my BIL's wedding Sept 2nd thru the 14th, I think.

US airlines are, as usual, overpriced.

2. I fly to Canada several times/year. US flights are always less expensive

than Canadian ones.

3. Prices are crappy these days

I used to fly up to your enchanted island in the stream about twice a year. The fare used to be about $110 RT. Now it is more like $330+

When I am in less of a hurry, I use Amtrak. That is about $110RT but takes 10 hours. The cheaper and fastest mode of mass transit is bus -- about 7 hours and $85RT but I haven't done that since I prefer the train.

Now I have the hunger equivalent of an ear-worm going (what would that be? a tape-worm?).... smoked meat sandwich, fries with flavored mayo and a big Boreal Rousse from EuroSnack.... lunch at Le Grand Comptior ... free samples of local fruit at Marche Jean Talon then some gelato ....porc or deer entrees from Au Petit Extra and fancy food from Area.... Mmmmmmm. Damn you airfares!

4. Hot Air Balloon is cheap

Giant Slingshot, balloons from the clown at the park, hang glide ...

I know its pricey right now, good luck finding a good price.
