Gimme your grin-like-an-idiot songs
Edited on Sat Dec-06-03 08:01 PM by undisclosedlocation
Here's a few to start you off, arranged from least to most likely to be recognizable, for perverse reasons that even I don't understand:

Steve Wynn, Amphetamine
Too Much Joy, Long haired Guys from England & That's A Lie
Mojo Nixon/Skid Roper, Elvis I Everywhere & Don Henley Must Die
They Might Be Giants, New York City
Nanci Griffith, Love at the Five & Dime (Hey, you can grin like an idiot with a tear in your eye!)
Swing Out Sister, Breakout
Katrina & the Waves, Walkin' on Sunshine (Try to remember before it became the soundtrack for about 50 tv commercials; possibly the ultimate grin like an idiot number)
Cheap Trick, Surrender
Offspring, She's Got Issues
Lovin' Spoonful, Do You Believe in Magic?
REM, It's the End of the World as We Know It (and I Feel Fine)
Cops, Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic
Beach Boys, Fun Fun Fun

Edits: Silly spacing error, silly typing error (They Might Be Fiants is my favorite band!) and commas, commas, commas.

18. Mayor of Simpleton by XTC
was the anchor song the last time I did a thread like this (I now remember).

Didn't know anybody but me remembered Your Sister Can't Twist. Also the best segue in rock history from it to Saturday Night's All Right for Fighting.

Music and Lyrics by Sean Morey
Ladies and Gentelmen, THE MAN SONG!

(He's the man! He's the man!)
I don't take no crap from anybody else but you.
I wear the pants around here when I'm finished with your laundry.
"Cause I'm a guy you don't wanna fight.
When I say "Jump" you say "Yeah, right"
I'm the man of this house until you get home.
(He's the man! He's the man!)

What I say goes around here right out the window.
And I don't wanna hear a lot of whinning so I'll shut up.
The sooner you learn whose boss around here,
The sooner you can give me my orders dear.
'Cause I'm head honcho around here but it's all in my head.
(He's the man! He's the man!)

And I can have sex anytime that you want.
"Cause I'm a man who has needs but they're not that important.
And don't expect any flowers from me
'Cause if I'm not mistaken you prefer jewlery.
I'm the King of my castle when you're not around.
(He's the man! He's the man!)

And I'll drink and watch sports whenever I wanna get in trouble.
And I'll come home when I'm good and ready to sleep on the couch.
'Cause a mans' gotta do what a mans' gotta do
And I'm gonna do what you tell me to.
'Cause I'm top dog around here
But I've been neutered!
(He's the man! He's the man! You Da Man!)
