Question about Home Alone movie scene
I suppose that I always could rent the movie if no one answers this. I haven't seen the movie in years but was thinking about it yesterday since I think it is a great Christmas movie. I haven't seen or talked to my mother in over a year and was thinking about trying to see her for Christmas but I am afraid. How this is all connected is that I remember that there is a scene where Kevin runs into his scary neighbor at the church. The neighbor says something like "That's my grand daughter, but I can't come here tonight. Years ago I said some things to my son that I regret and he said the same." Kevin then gives him some advice to encourage him to see his son and his family again. I can't remember what he said though. I really want to know so that I can be inspired. Perhaps, I should just watch it myself for that kind of inspiration. If anyone knows though, please tell me. There is only one video store in town so the movie is probably out.

1. I asked people at work too
No one could remember. I guess that I'll have to rent it sometime when it is available.

2. Even IMDb didn't have that quote (though they had a lot)
Rent it! It's fun. :)

3. I think I know but don't hold me to it exactly.

Kevin: Why don't you say you're sorry?

Old Man: I'm afraid that (my son) will refuse to talk to me.

Kevin: Why don't you do it anyway? Then you won't be afraid because then you'll know whether or not he'll talk to you. Sometimes you have to make yourself do stuff that you think is scary so you can stop being afraid. I used to be afraid of our cellar because it was big and dark and I didn't know what all the stuff was down there. But I made myself go down there and I saw that it wasn't such a big deal. Now I'm not afraid of the cellar anymore.

I paraphrased but I hope this is the information you're looking for.

And yes, as per Eleanor Roosevelt, "We must do what we are afraid of."

4. Thanks
Yes, I think it is something like that. That's good stuff. Maybe, I should rent it anyway for a truly inspirational experience though.
