Remember all those threads about "something big" happening soon?
Y'know, psychics all over the place gettin' their scarves in a bunch, freaking out about something very "big" and vague about to happen in the next few days....

There was/is a nor'easter debilitating a good third of the country riht now, a HUGE snowstorm. Some places are getting over two feet of snow. Coincidence?

Was THAT the "big thing" that was going to happen? I think people naturally expected the "big thing" to be a political event.

Or am I stupid for even giving (semi-insincere) credence to such prestidigitative hoo-hah?

Upon reflection, that had to be it.

4. Until you can
point to evidence that any psychic has an accuracy of better than chance, yes you're stupid for giving them semi-insincere credence to the hoo-hah. ;) (kidding while serious)

Caveat: Vague predictions that could apply to literally any day of the year do not count as accurate hits.

5. I know, I know....
I believe in psychic phenomena about as much as I believe in the effectiveness of leeches in medicine. But still, there was something intriguing about those, like, ten different threads appearing all at once proclaiming some coming catostophic event.

Hey, y'know, the way I see it, the psychics got lucky that ANYTHING happened...a broken clock is still right twice a day.

15. careful about disparaging leeches in medicine
Several years ago, they started using them to help restore circulation to areas that were injured and required better bloodflow.

So, who knows? Maybe someday, 'psycic phenomena' may be defined, quantified to some degree, and applied in more controled ways. The Soviets used to have a program of experimenting with 'remote viewing' and there are scattered stories of the US trying it too. Hey, they found out about the usefullness of leech spit and harnessed it. LOL Who knew?

meanwhile, yeah, the storm in the north east might be the Big Thing de jour.

I keep wondering about newsguyat1 telling us something was gonna happen in Oct that would make us all happy.

9. I predict something big will happen sometime
I've never been able to take anything that is psychic, paranormal, astrological, etc. seriously. Maybe I'm just unimaginative.

10. I think people are misreading my post....
I do not believe in psychic phenomena either. I was hoping I'd catch someone who DOES so that I coud gauge their reaction to the hysteria of the "something's coming" posts and the subsequent nor'easter.

I personally believe that psychics are full of shit.

12. I didn't
think you believed in psychic phenomena from your post. I also thought it was interesting to see a few of the "something big is going to happen" threads the last couple of days.

8. Nah. I repented once. Wasn't fun....
And "fellowshipping" is hard work, man!

I still think it's odd how there was all this hysteria here, then...nothing. However, there IS a snowstorm going on.....

11. Well, I believe
that psychics are total fakers and frauds, but hey, that's just me. There is always something BIG going down, somewhere. Forget the new age stuff, have you ever been to a church service with a "healer"? I went to one once with my fiance and a friend. I saw dozens of people healed from headaches, depression, oppression by the devil. My friend was blind in one eye. She went down to get healed of depression. Me, I would have wanted my eye restored.

As far as I am personally concerned, psychics are every bit on the same moral plane as that healer. I don't say they can't be psychic, and I don't say God can't heal people through someone. But when these people are doing it for the money, I suspect their success rate get bumped up some. And, in any event, I want to see the results, and I want them to be physical, not emotional.

I guess the reason my post is running this long is that the people on this board claim to be strong on "facts and logic". Sometimes they are, but not, IMNSHO,when they take psychics seriously. I hope that I haen't offended you, as I am not directing these remarks against you. It is just a general rant.

13. "Something Big" is always happening somewhere.
At any given point in time, there's something going on that will be considered "A Big Thing". Or at least "The Biggest Thing".

So predicting the something big is in the air is not difficult. Predicting what that thing will be is the hard part.

14. A Psychic On "Coast To Coast AM" Predicted....
that Dumbya's life could be in serious danger during the month of December. This was several weeks ago. They kind of hinted at an assasination attempt, but didn't get very specific. December is now upon us.

Hey, I can't help it, I'm a night owl.:hangover:

16. That "something big" was a freeper blowing smoke up our butts
That person joined up an hour before and racked up enough posts in less than an hour to be able start a post. I thought it was bullshit and was only surprised that so many people resonded to the post. (Although, I think they were playing whack-a-freep with him/her)

Something big is always going to happen. Last night it was a big fart. It's a head fuck. It's not a political thing. It's not a weather thing. It's just a head fuck. One has nothing to do with the other.

And you are pulling my leg. :D
