Poll question: the ultimate in lameosity?
I live in a house with a DUer. We're both working from home in adjacent rooms, about 15 feet away from each other. And we're communicating via IM. So exactly how lame is that?

1. Um, Robb is a dingbat?
My husband and I call each other on our office phone rather than go into each others offices!

2. Damn, that's lame! Are you Swatties, or just ordinary friendless virgins?

6. swatties? friendless virgins?
uh....none of the above. not sure why my post would lead you to believe either was true.

9. Then you are far from the 'peaks' of lame-osity.
Stop worrying, you still have far to travel before you
will ever need a name for your degree of lameness.

('Swatties' is what Swarthmore Alums call themselves;
they have a shared history which is it's own chapter in the Book of LAME.)

4. It's totally lame...
However, I think I can say that because the boyfriend and I do the same thing in our house. His office is on one end of the apartment, the spare bedroom where my computer is is on the other. It's lame, but it beats yelling or, you know, actually getting up for once. :)

13. Oh, I don't fault you for it.
Not at all. My "getting up" quip was mainly me making fun of me because unlike you, there is absolutely no reason why I can't just get up and go talk to the boy. I'm just lazy when I get home. That, and he hates emoticons so I try to send him some periodically to annoy him.

5. I thought I was the only one who did that
When my husband is working in the home office and I'm in the living room with my laptop, I'll IM random questions. I hate yelling and I don't want to get up every 2 minutes so I just IM him. :D

30. It's hard to get Zingerman's on Saturday...
...because of all the Farmers' Market traffic. But I'll make a note of it for fall. Unless it's a home football Saturday.

Hey, I took it off Joe's show -- got to give me credit there!

Just be glad it isn't Earthen Jar. I have no idea what that it but it doesn't sound tasty.

18. My SO will sometimes send me an e-mail, from the dining room table,
as he's doing some work...while I'm sitting in the living room (note: these are two connecting rooms).

And the dumb thing is...he's using my laptop, so I'm not at a computer, and I sometimes don't get the message until the next day, and he wonders why I never replied/addressed his question/etc.

28. I'm lamer.
I regularly IM my friend across the hall when I could walk five feet and talk to him face to face. Hell, I've even IMmed my roommate when I could have swiveled my chair around and talk to him.

It went something like this:
Him: Hi.
Me: Yeah, this is pointless.

We don't do that anymore.

and we are only sitting about 3 feet from one another and are in the same room. It's great for when we both have our headphones on. Sometimes turning around and speaking is just too much work
