Need help -What are the top 5 "media distraction" stories of 2005?
I'm writing an illustrative essay for school and am using media distraction as one of my thesis points. All I can think of right now are Natalee Holloway and Terri Schaivo. Any others? Thanks!

1. Missing white women
Atrios calls the phenomenon "Where De White Women At," often enough to use the acronym WDWWA.

Now I don't even remember which one was Holloway-- the Aruba vacationer?-- but there were a couple who turned up dead, and then there was the runaway bride.

American Idol is always good for a distraction too. And the Michael Jackson trial circus.
