7. I love Minneapolis
I wish the Nicollet Mall was still there (Tajitas and FAO Schwartz). I went to the Harry Potter exhibit in the former Dayton's (why did they change that name!! It's truly Minnesotan). I got into U of M-Twin Cities but I settled for Boston instead.

Maybe I should have done TC, I get homesick easily... then again... I'm moving to England this coming May...

9. Nicollet Mall is still there
It has changed though. I remember as a child going downtown twice a year to shop with my mom. We would always eat at Cafe diNapoli.

Dayton's changed because the company is no longer owned by the Daytons.
Rather than keep regional names regional, Target Corporation (formerly Dayton-Hudson) changed all of their department stores to a name more "nationally recognizable."

That's why they changed the company name to Target also; with the national expansion of the Target chain, it was the most recognizable brand the company has.

Dayton's will always be Dayton's to me, but it will never be the same. THAT was a department store back when department stores had a certain something "more."

19. Same here...
There's now a Marshall Fields where I live in MN, and everytime my mum and I want to go shopping, we refer it to Dayton's (it's been a year or so since the name changed). It's the same thing with the local HyVee, I still can't get used to the name after 10 years, and still call it Barlow's.

I thought Nicollet Mall was the place where there was a marble filled mall, I remember going to FAO Schwartz, the Red Balloon Bookshop, etc. Maybe I'm thinking of something else, I remember walking the skyway to Dayton's after shopping at FAO Schwartz.

I'm planning to go to Mickey's diner someday before I leave. My last few MN experiences before I go to England!

14. So it's like we switched places...
Boise has a nice skyline too, but it's not "home."

How long ago did you live here?
