Boomers, of these "Live" albums, whats your favorite?

I'm listing my favorites here but feel free to add your own favorites from the 1967-78 era.

1. Yessongs didn't make the cut?

That version of Siberian Khatru makes my hair stand on end every time I hear it- and I try to hear it pretty regularly.

2. Thats one of my favorites too. Just not enough slots in the poll mode.

I cant tell you how many times I played Yessongs while I was cooped up in my room, on restriction.

7. Of those ones, I favor Lou Reed "Rock 'n' Roll Animal," and its companion

"Lou Reed Live."

Also Lou Reed's "Take No Prisoners Live," done a couple years later, which is mostly improvised spoken insults toward Patti Smith, Robert Christgau, and audience members - one long double album "binaurally" recorded rant, really - is quite a treat.

I also very much like The Who "Live at Leeds," The Rolling Stones "Get Yer Ya Yas Out," Iggy & the Stooges "Metallic KO," and Iggy Pop "TV Eye Live."

I might have the wrong definition of the broad era, though. If so, I apologize.

so I am lying in bed with a laptop escaping from the boredom of lying in bed at all...I am going to try to work tomorrow..I have to wear a corset in order to stand so that will look quite cute....good thing it's still cool enough to wear a jacket over it

I'd use it as an excuse to play hookey, but then I really don't like my job very much! ;-)

Wearing the corset-thing must suck. I didn't even have to do that after my back surgery. Of course, I ended up re-herniating. Maybe I should borrow it after you're finished with it, might keep me from further injuring myself. :D

14. "Velvet Underground Live 1969"

Not the "Live At Max's Kansas City" album (which I think is inferior; even though John Cale had left by then the Velvets never sounded better, especially in the amazing guitar interplay between Lou Reed and Sterling Morrison, especially on "What Goes On".

And it's still got the best version of "Heroin" on record as far as I'm concerned, though the version on the CD reissue isn't the same version on the original vinyl release...

There are too many great live albums to choose from when considering other genres of music.

Bill Graham and his concert promotion company, Bill Graham Presents, produced more than 35,000 concerts all over the world. His first venue, the legendary Fillmore Auditorium, was home to many of rock's greatest performers - Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Doors, The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Led Zeppelin, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Prince - and the list goes on and on.

Many crappy live albums made in the 70s. Chicago's Live at Carnegie Hall album is another one that stinks up the joint.

45. I saw the actual concert where Jonathan Demme saw them and

was inspired to make the film. The concert was amazing, better than the film, and the film was quite good.

Live at the Greek Theater in LA in 1983.

I also went to art school with most of them.

Byrne was hard to know, as he was unsocialized. I'd go to a party, he'd sit in the corner and not say much. Most of the time I knew him, so to speak, he wasn't really enrolled in the school but would hang out there. He was a lead singer for a school band called the Artistics, and Chris Frantz played the drums.


Another classmate, Gus Van Sant, taught Byrne to play guitar. Gus has directed a few movies since then.
