Killer oatmeal cookie recipe
The "Vanishing Oatmeal Cookie" recipe from the Quaker Oats container. And they aren't kidding. Bring a plate of these to any party and watch them vanish within minutes. And they are relatively healthy - the oats add fiber and the raisins add iron.

1 cup butter or margarine (2 sticks), softened
1 cup golden brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon good quality vanilla extract
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup raisins
3 cups Quaker oats, regular or quick-cooking

Use real butter for best flavor. Combine first five ingredients, mixing thoroughly after each addition. In a separate container, combine the next four ingredients until thoroughly mixed, then add to liquid mixture and mix thoroughly. Stir in raisins (use the new "baking raisins" for more moistness) and finally stir in the oats. Let the dough sit in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to allow the flour to absorb the liquid and the dough to become more solid. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 4 dozen. Or, to make bar cookies, spread mixture in ungreased 13 x 9 inch pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.

3. only if you can 't stop at a couple....
yeah right. The first thing I'd do is cut the recipe in half. That way if all 2 dozen cookies mysteriously disappeared after a couple of hours I'd only have consumed one stick of butter.

5. Well, the Quaker Oats container now says "Oatmeal Helps Remove Cholesterol
in big letters on the top, and the side gives a paragraph how eating oatmeal can remove cholesterol from your body, and eating a low-sodium diet can lower your blood pressure, so I guess the oats help counteract the bad effect of eating the butter. If you didn't want to use butter maybe you could use a non-trans-fat margarine, but the flavor won't be the same. I have tried making it with margarine instead of butter and there is a difference in flavor.
