Breakfast on a shrimp boat
We are fifty miles at sea aboard the Miss Candace out of South Carolina. Bob the other striker ia a Vietnam Veteran. His inner ears are damaged from an explosion. He is very prone to motion sickness. Nevertheless he is cooking breakfast.

He removes a pound or so of shrimp from boiling water which has made it easy to remove the shell. In the frying pan salt back is rendering. In the hot grease onion is simmering. Soon the peeled shrimp join the onions in the grease. A tablespoon of white flour follows and is burned black in the hot grease. A little milk and black pepper is added. The whole simmers a few minutes.

Captain Harrington and I sit down with hot coffee. The shrimp gravy and shrimp is served over grits. It is excellent as are many of Bob's skills.

Bob cannot eat. Seasickness has overcome him. He spends the day in bed getting up only to puke some more while leaning over the side of Miss Candace.

That night though as the sun is setting we put out the nets. Rock shrimp are only caught at night. It is a rough night for Bob. I do not see how he can work like this. He is dehydrated from puking and yet he labors on. By morning time Bob is in desperate straits and returns immediately to bed.

To be continued maybe.

3. Different Bob
And then things got worse. It was there I caught the Remora fish (Voyages).

This could be quite a long story.
