What's the last thing you forced yourself to like?
For me it was a glass of outrageously expensive Scotch.

1. You.
And HEyHEY's mom.

No, wait... liking HEyHEY's mom was easy, and so was she.

4. I'm all out of out.
I sold it all. And then I gave it away, sort of.

All I have left is a terrible Bob Dylan impression.

5. Having a Bella Donna - Morphine suppository shoved way up my ass.
However, it didn't take long for me to really, really like it. For real.

12. A couple of weekends ago
I was partying at a friends. And I only brought a few beers with me. We drank beer and whiskey, and then I ran out of beer. So I was pretty buzzed and didn't want to walk back to my building to carry more beer over. He gave me some of his. It tasted so bad but was so worth not having to walk up and down a flight of stairs carrying beer while buzzed and unsteady in the middle of the night.

17. Coffee
I never drank coffee until I was in the Army. I realized early on in basic that they bring coffee before they bring water so I had better learn to like it.

18. Prosciutto
For years I would not eat it - too salty. Then I ate it a few times and came around. Now I'm silly for the stuff. Jamon Serrano (Spanish prosciutto) is even better.

21. I don't force myself to like anything.
It's an ugly life lesson with a metric fuckload of not easily unpacked baggage to have suffered a life threatening illness (and actually have been dead for a brief time); to have lost a long-term, live-in lover to suicide and then to have watched my dearly loved mum slowly vegetate and die from repeated strokes.

Let me bottom-line it for anyone who's bored enough to actually be reading my posts: Life is too short to spend it volutarily suffering or uncomfortable when you don't have to be.

The last time I recall forcing myself to enjoy something I was a teenager and a boy I was dating threatened the relationship if I didn't like the same barely tolerable jazz 'artist' he felt a veritable god.

23. I'm still working on cilantro.
Recently heard it's genetic if you don't like it.
Doesn't taste to you like it does to everybody else.

29. Chlorine
Like when I'd get water up my nose at the YMCA pool when I was a kid.
It always reminds me of swimming pools.
They say it's genetic.

27. My best friend's cousin.
Well, I haven't exactly forced myself to like him, but for the sake of harmony I've done my damndest not to hate him. Seems to be working. To his credit, he seems to be doing his damndest not to hate me, either, and we're mostly pretty civil to each other these days.
