Ugh...barking dogs...
I'm currently staying with my parents for 3 weeks while my new house is being finished up. Their neighbor has a dog that they seem to let roam during the day. Every time anyone comes or goes from my parents house, any time any of us comes home and gets out of our car or leaves the house to go to their car, their dog runs up to the fence and starts barking for as long as that person is out there. It's so friggin annoying. It annoys my parents too and they complain about it as well. The way the yards are set it's not a direct neighbor so it's not someone they know. But how do people not realize their dog is standing outside barking every time someone moves in a neighbors yard. The thing that sucks is it's not illegal since the law only covers a dog who barks consistently for more than 20 minutes. But it's still annoying as hell.

1. I've got the same
problem and it's driving me nuts. Except, my new neighbors know their stupid little yappy dogs are barking and say to me, "just tell me if it bothers you". Well, HELL YES! When they are outside and hear them barking, then they yell at the dogs. Sheesh! Then I get to hear stupid dogs and stupid neighbors! It's a matter of a poor trained dog. Ahhh, I miss my elderly neighbors!

2. This is a big dog...
Looks like Golden Retriever or something similar. So it's got this loud, booming, aggressive bark. My parents have a small, yappy type dog so it's not like we don't like dogs or have to deal with barking.

3. Buy some tiger piss...
Some of those outdoor magazines offer it.

The scent is sure to keep old fido away and maybe in shock...

4. Call the cops.
I had neighbors behind me who had two very large, very loud dogs that they kept outside and they barked incessantly. I called the cops every single day. Truth is, I wasn't being vindictive, I couldn't work with all the noise and forget about sleeping in any of the rooms in my house that faced theirs. They finally moved.

5. Glad they moved.
Years ago, I had a neighbor who had a small yappy little dog that barked at EVERYTHING THAT MOVED. The dog had a loud, shrill piercing bark.

I spoke to the neighbor about it, and she acted highly defensive, but she did keep the dog in more.

I'll look into the tiger piss. What's it supposed to do, just repel dogs?

6. I don't know. I never heard of that remedy before.
I have a dog as well, and she barks to come in when she goes outside to do her business, but we let her in immediately out of concern for our neighbors.

9. That's the problem...
The cops will only come if it barks incessantly for more than 20 minutes at a time. This dog doesn't do that. It simply goes into a barking frenzy on the side of the neighbors property closest to my parents every time someone comes in and out of the house or in and out of a car. Which is highly annoying and rude, but I don't think illegal.

The thing is that their neigbors property is probably a hundred feet away and the neighbors house is probably 100 feet away from the fence line and their house is massive So THEY don't notice it.

Plus I think they (my parents) would probably go through the effort of writing a note and leaving it in the neighbors mailbox before they would call the cops.

7. Even worse when it's your own.
I've got one little old 16-year-old who used to be quite yappy, but now is pretty quiet unless he really needs something. I've got one serene and gentle 4-year-old who almost never says a word. And then - insert Jaws theme here - there's the 11-month-old puppy! The fact that he ripped up my carpet and ate my couch is only vaguely annoying in relation to how vocal he is. Barks when he wants to tempt the others to play. Barks when he loses a toy in an inaccessible corner. Barks when anyone or anything goes past the living room window. Barks when he needs to go out (this is a good thing, mind you). And he's a big guy, despite being so young, with an amazing lung capacity. He's not especially bothered by being yelled at, either. I think my neighbors hear more of my yelling at him than they hear of his barking. Yeah, it'll drive you crazy ... but in my case, I'm pretty sure he'll grow out of it in another year or so.

It makes a super high pitched noise, so every time it barks, it will make the noise
