Isaac Hayes Still On "South Park"
Edited on Tue Mar-21-06 06:27 PM by rocknation
March 13:
Isaac Hayes has quit "South Park," where he voices Chef, saying he can no longer stomach its take on religion...(H)e feels a line has been crossed...

"There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins," the 63-year-old soul singer and outspoken Scientologist said...

March 21:
FoxNews.com has deemed it "ridiculous" that the singer, who has been recovering from a stroke suffered in mid-January, would all of a sudden turn against the show for poking fun at his religion...

...Those close to Hayes are said to be "mystified" by the statement released March 13 and attributed to him.

...(T)he Scientology-skewering "Trapped in a Closet" episode, pulled last week amidst allegations that...(fellow Scientologist)...Tom Cruise had intervened, will air this Wednesday.

Well, I'm not mystified. Either Hayes came up looking like such a damned hypocrite that Fox told him to change his mind or else; or the whole thing was a publicity stunt to call attention to both Cruise's new movie and South Park's starting a new season. But if the story was false, why did it take the Hayes camp a WEEK to come that conclusion?
