If you are ever in such an establishment, you should always tip the dancers, especially on a slower night. Depending on the club, some dancers only get money in tips (rather than a base pay) and some even have to pay to dance there. You can always just hand the dancer money or throw it on stage if you are uncomfortable with close contact.

Last fall I went to an event in Houston where several bankers/investors and lawyers (I'm a lawyer, but was not the host) concluded the signing of a business deal by going to a mens club. I tend to stay sober at events like this, to avoid doing something embarrassing. I was probably the only sober one there. At the end of the night I had to help the host figure out the bill. He purchased a great deal (like 3 grand) of monopoly money which the strippers can turn in later for real money. Not including this, the total bill for food and private "special room" dances came to over $20,000. I thought it was a huge waste of time and money.

Other than this time, I have been to a local club in recent years a few times with my wife. It loads of fun and we usually find one girl and buy a few dances from her.
