Do people working around your house weird you out?
There're two guys in my back yard right now trimming my crooked willow trees, and it's the first time I haven't felt kinda weird with strangers around like that.

Maybe it's because I'm not paying them. The property owner's covering it.

2. I find that statement fascinating
I usually feel a bit odd when strangers are around. I almost feel like I'm holding my breath until they leave. I think I'll have to pay attention and figure out why I do. :hi:

3. It's weird if you're a guy
You feel sorta like you have to watch them for awhile and say guy-like stuff, such as, "I see you're using the four-jet Frammis converter with Enron™ inversion bushings."

Then you feel like a complete nimrod when the dude goes, "Nah, it's just a stick I found."

6. I hate it
Fortunately I've hung out with the current and former maintenance guys so they don't bother me- hard for them to bother me out there when I've drank and smoked with them yanno?

But when Big Owner Guy is wandering around, I get freaked out, shut my blinds, and secretly watch until he's gone. :scared:

7. I don't mind if they are working outside.
But I don't like them inside the house. It will be unavoidable when we have our bathrooms remodeled and I'm not looking forward to it.

8. when you hang around watching, it weirds out the workers.
imagine trying to do your job with someone watching your every move.

i used to get weirded out when homeowners would act like they were alone, having fights, discussing personal issues, leaving stuff around. nothing makes a work crew uneasy like hearing a screaming match about "how much this project is costing us and how we should never have done it AND THIS WHOLE FUCKING THING IS YOUR FAULT AND I SHOULD NEVER HAVE LET YOU TALK ME INTO THIS!!!!!!!!" then doors slam.

9. Usually it's people working IN my house that bothers me more.

I want to go like, "What are you doing in my house?"

And they'd be like,"Well, you hired us to fix your toilet."

And I'd be like, "I know. But can't you do it remotely from your workstation or something, like the IT guy?"

10. Yes!
I don't care for having strangers working in or around my house.

My home-owner's insurance just paid a claim to a former contractor's employee injury.

11. Funny.
When we had stairs made right next to my desk, I was still working at my computer, and the guy turns to me and says: "I'm sorry we keep you from working." But I think for some people, the computer is really just a Dell and for porn. ;)

13. yes i'm glad i'm not the only one
it matters not who is paying, i feel i have to be alert to make sure they are properly hydrated, not being harassed by my pet birds or wild birds that i attract to my feeders for that matter, etc.

i have to get used to it though w two big storms hitting my house in a couple years, one being katrina which destroyed the roofs of the entire neighborhood so it isn't just my house got worked on, it's people on roofs all around me -- and no more trees, so no more privacy

yeah, it weirds me out, makes me feel crowded

15. Yes.
We had a big remodeling project last year that took the contractors six months to finish. The work was exterior- and they were always working near my dining room, living room and kitchen windows (because that was part of their job). I hated the idea of people seeing into my home, kwim? Of course you do.

16. Awkward....that's how I feel.
It's just an awkward circumstance....if a worker comes to do something either inside or out, do you stand there and watch over their shoulder or keep an eye on them from afar? I generally like to know what they are doing, but feel weird standing there and watching their every move.
