My neighbor is having a concert in his backyard. Shoot me, please.
Edited on Sat Mar-18-06 05:18 PM by flvegan
My back neighbor (his backyard abuts my back yard) was in a band for quite some time, he tells me. Apparently, they've reassembled for an afternoon. Now, don't get me wrong, it's not that the band sucks, it's that the vocalist sucks.

As I type, "Sweet Home Alabama" has just begun. Christ.

Anyway, it's loud enough to drown out my stereo and my tv at the back of the house. When I open the door to let the dogs out, it's louder than most I've heard at a bar.

The drums sound like they're right next to me.

That's it...I'm going outside and yelling, "FREEEEEEEBIIIIRRRRRRRRD!!!!" Lounge, I leave it to you to avenge my death...

3. Shouldn't we shoot them rather than you?
After all we'd all miss you if you were gone.

12. Aw, shucks.
I don't really want anyone shot. Well, except maybe the bassist. He's "tuning up" right now, it sounds like.

Dudes...it's a backyard.

6. Oh, you have my sympathies, believe me.
I just had to go outside my little tin can, fema trailer, to tell the idigit neighbor across the street that I could hear the baseball game he had blairing on his truck's radio in the street outside of his house. He was working on the doorway to his house and he couldn't miss his college baseball game! :argh:

I wonder if he has ever heard of a headset and portable radio.

It was so loud, I could hear it over my t.v. and these travel trailers are not exactly insulated. :grr:

Respect and common courtesy, are they too much to ask for?

8. I fear my situation pales in comparison.
You guys are already dealing with an awful lot. In your situation, THAT type of thing could be someone's breaking point.

As for your last question, I'm beginning to think that in commonplace, yes, it is.

9. Oh, this guy has pushed me to my limits on more than one occassion.
His house is one that had a room remodeled by the Trading Spaces folks. For 6 days, 4 of them involing cameras and more traffic than I thought possible, I had to put up with constant, nonstop construction and frustrations until all hours of the early morning.

I would go out and ask them to not block me in, to not work until 2 a.m., to realize that they were not the only people on the street, but they didn't care.

I just keep reminding myself that I will be rebuilding soon and I hope that he is just as patient as I have tried to be. My boss has told me to call the cops on them after 10:00 p.m., I haven't but I have gone out and lectured.

They think I'm nuts, I think they are rude. We are sort of even.

Good luck to you! :hi:

15. Or a Jay-Z show
Let's see how many people (doing absolutely fuckall) we can put on the mike at once. Cripes.

You have my sympathies. I've played in a number of garage bands in my decades of doing music, but the cardinal rule is that you don't cross the property line with your noise.

Better yet, start a tire fire in your yard. Everybody loves the smell of burning tires. Especially weekend warrior musician-types.

16. We have a neighborhood band as well
They aren't out yet but have been practicing in one of the members garage and drive way the past few spring-fall. They are teenage girls and pretty decent.

17. Well, when these asshats were covering somewhat decent music
it was only quite disturbing. I fear, now, that it's original material which bills with the Gods of Suck.

A year or so ago, our next door neighbors were in a band, and they would practice there. They were okay at best. Rarely would they disturb others, and if the kick drum was a little too much, all you had to do was ask them to turn it down to 8. They were cool. I appreciate a garage band. I throw up in my mouth a little at these...these...idiots.
